Tempering is a cooking technique used in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, in which whole spices (and sometimes also other ingredients such as dried chillies, minced ginger root or sugar) are roasted briefly in oil or ghee to liberate essential oils from cells and thus enhance their flavours, before being poured, together with the oil, into a dish. Fair & Lovely (film)
''Fair & Lovely'' (''Phēr aṇḍ lavlī'') is a 2014 Indian Kannada romance drama film written and directed by D. P. Raghuram. Produced by Shilpa Ramesh under the banner Jade Plant Ventures, the film stars Prem Kumar as Manoj and Shwetha Srivatsav as Bhumika, a sex worker, in the lead roles. Vijay Raghavendra appears in an extended special appearance. The music was composed by V. Harikrishna who has also made his debut as a lyricist by penning one track for the film. The film was released on 24 October 2014, to generally positive reviews from critics, who acclaimed the film's screenplay, narration, dialogues, cinematography and the performances of the lead pair, Kumar and Shwetha Srivatsav. Shwetha Srivatsav
Shwetha Srivatsav is an Indian actress, known for her work in Kannada cinema and television. She began her career in theatre, before moving to television, where she received recognition for her role in T. N. Seetharam's ''Manvantara''. She subsequently went on to work in films. Having made her film debut with ''Mukha Mukhi'' (2006), she shot to fame with her performance in '' Simple Agi Ondh Love Story'' (2013). Her performance in '' Fair & Lovely'' (2014) won her the Filmfare Award South for Best Actress. Career Shwetha took part in a theatre workshop conducted by B. V. Karanth, circa 1997, when she was in class six. She was later cast in the television soap ''Jwalamukhi'', directed by T. N. Seetharam. Shwetha subsequently went on to appear in many telefilms and teleplays before being cast in Seetharam's ''Manvantara''. Sriimurali (born 17 December 1981), also known simply as Murali, is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Kannada cinema. ''Adhyaksha'' () is a 2014 Indian Kannada language romantic comedy film directed by Nanda Kishore. It stars Sharan, Hebah Patel, Chikkanna, P. Ravi Shankar, Malavika Avinash and Ramesh Bhat. Sharan (born 6 February 1972) is an Indian actor and an occasional playback singer and film producer who works in Kannada cinema. He made his acting debut in the mid-1990s and appeared mostly in comedy roles and small supporting roles.
