''500 Nations'' is an eight-part American documentary television series that was aired on CBS in 1995 about the Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Native Americans of North America, North and Central America. It documents events from the Pre-Columbian era to the end of the 19th century. Much of the information comes from text, eyewitnesses, pictorials, and computer graphics. The series was hosted by Kevin Costner, narrated by Gregory Harrison, and directed by Jack Leustig. Roberta Grossman
Roberta Grossman (born January 7, 1959) is an American Filmmaking, filmmaker. Her documentaries range from social justice inquiries to historical subjects with a focus on Jewish history. Early life and education Grossman was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a major in History and earned her MA in Producing from the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies in Los Angeles. She considered obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD and embarking on an academic career, but regarded making documentaries as a more effective way to convey history and engage with historical subjects.
