The 5.8×21mm DAP92 ( zh, p=92 shì 5.8 háo mǐ pǔ tōng dàn, s=, c=DAP92式5.8毫米普通弹, ) is a Chinese armor-piercing cartridge for handguns and submachine guns. Description The cartridge was designed to replace the 7.62×25mm Tokarev-chambered small arms for the People's Liberation Army, while still offering a wound as large as a standard 9×19mm Parabellum round. This round is offered in both a standard and subsonic version. Both the QSZ-92 service pistol and the QCW-05 submachine gun are produced in this caliber as well as 9×19mm Parabellum. QCW-05
The QCW-05 (, also referred to as the Type 05 Suppressed Submachine Gun) is a suppressed bullpup submachine gun, manufactured and developed by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) 208 Research Institute and Jianshe Industries (Group) Corporation of Chongqing under the China South Industries Group. Development In October 2001 the Jianshe Industries (Group) Corporation (owned by the China South Industries Group) won a bid to produce the PLA's next generation of submachine gun to replace the Type 79 and the Type 85 silenced submachine guns, beating out other competitors such as the Changfeng CF-05 due to its ease of construction and operation. QSZ-92
The QSZ-92, sometimes known as the Type 92 (), is a semi-automatic pistol designed by Norinco. History The decision to develop a new pistol was made in 1987 to replace the Type 54 pistol, Type 54/64/77. Research and development started in 1992. Development of the QSZ-92 pistol began in 1994 and was adopted by the People's Liberation Army's forces in 1998. The export variants (9×19mm versions) include the CF-98 (barrel life c. 8,000 rds) and the NP-42 (barrel life c. 10,000 rds). The latter is the basic version without provisions for suppressor etc. Both have so far found commercial export in Canada. The CF-98 has also been sighted in parts of Africa. In June 2022, it's reported that Iraq has made the pistol as the Babylon through the Defence Industries Commission. They are sold to Iraqi lawyers who need personal protection.
