3D Robotics
3DR is an American company headquartered in Berkeley, California that makes enterprise drone software for construction, engineering, and mining firms, along with government agencies. Prior to 2016, the company designed and marketed commercial and recreational unmanned aerial vehicles. They produced consumer drones, ready-to-fly quadcopters for aerial photography and mapping, and fixed-wing UAVs based on the Ardupilot platform. As of September, 2016, 3DR and the major open source Ardupilot development community separated due to disagreements over the license of the open source code which 3DR products are based upon. The company was co-founded as 3D Robotics in 2009 by author and entrepreneur Chris Anderson and Mexican engineer Jordi Muñoz. Chris Anderson (born July 9, 1961) is an English-American author and entrepreneur. He was with ''The Economist'' for seven years before joining ''Wired'' magazine in 2001, where he was the editor-in-chief until 2012. He is known for his 2004 article entitled "The Long Tail", which he later expanded into the 2006 book, '' The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More''. NuttX
NuttX is a free and open-source Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) with an emphasis on technical standards compliance and on having a small footprint. Scalable from 8-bit to 64-bit microcontroller environments, the main governing standards in NuttX are from the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Further standard application programming interfaces (APIs) from Unix and other common RTOSes (such as VxWorks) are adopted for functions unavailable under these standards, or inappropriate for deeply embedded environments, such as the fork() system call.
