3AW Breakfast
''3AW Breakfast'' is an Australian breakfast radio show hosted by Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft on 3AW in Melbourne. A daily podcast of the morning's show is also produced. History In 1989, Ross Stevenson, Denis Connell and anchor Dean Banks joined 3AW from 3AK after building a cult following. The breakfast show was initially named ''Lawyers, Guns and Money.'' Connell was sacked in 1991 by program director Steve Price and the show was rebranded to ''Breakfast with Ross and Dean''. For the following 10 years, Stevenson and Banks established themselves and their style as a ratings success. In December 2000, Banks decided to retire, again leaving Stevenson to find a new partner. In 2001, John Burns joined Ross Stevenson as co-host following the retirement of Dean Banks. ''Breakfast with Ross and John'' was the station's top rating program. The lighthearted breakfast news and gossip show, ''Breakfast with Ross & Russel'', is one of Australia's most successful radio shows. Career He attended Trinity Grammar School, Kew, in Melbourne, where he was Dux of the college. Stevenson's initial career was as a lawyer at Melbourne law firm Darvall McCutcheon and then at Slater & Gordon. In 1985, while still a lawyer, Stevenson began his radio career on community station 3RRR where he partnered with fellow lawyer Denis Connell on a show called ''Lawyers, Guns and Money'', a reference from a Warren Zevon song ("Send lawyers, guns and money, the shit has hit the fan"). Denis Connell was known as "Donoghue", and together as "Donoghue & Stevenson", in reference to one of the most famous negligence cases that every legal studies and law student would have heard about in class. Russel Howcroft
Russel Howcroft (born 1965) is an Australian businessman and media personality best known as a panellist on the ABC television program ''The Gruen Transfer''. Howcroft is currently host of '' Breakfast with Ross & Russel'' on 3AW Howcroft grew up in Malvern, Victoria and attended Scotch College, Melbourne. Career Howcroft is the former national CEO of advertising agency George Patterson Y&R (now known as Y&R ANZ). In February 2013, Howcroft was appointed as Executive General Manager of Network Ten and remained in the position until February 2017 before moving to PwC just months before the network was placed into voluntary administration. Steve Price (broadcaster)
Steven William Price (born 13 January 1955) is an Australian radio broadcaster and opinion columnist. He appears regularly on '' The Project.'' In 2022, Price announced his contract with Triple M was not renewed. Price worked at Macquarie Media broadcasting on 2GB, 4BC and 3AW. Previously, he was the program director and breakfast presenter at MTR 1377. He formerly worked for Fairfax Media, presenting the morning shift between 9 am and 12 noon on 2UE. John Burns (radio Presenter)
John Burns (born 30 July 1945) is an Australian radio presenter. Career Burns' radio debut was in 1988 on community radio station 3RRR on the program ''Lawyers, Guns & Money'' as the character Sir Lunchalot. Later, the Sir Lunchalot character switched to commercial radio and became a regular Friday morning contributor to the 3AW breakfast show, providing humorous restaurant reviews and tips on dining etiquette. In 2001, Burns joined Ross Stevenson as co-host of 3AW's breakfast program following the retirement of Dean Banks. ''Breakfast with Ross and John'' was the station's top rating program. Tony Leonard
Anthony Leonard (born 19 December 1955) is an Australian radio presenter. Career In 1982, he joined the radio comedy team Coodabeen Champions, who were then on 3RRR. Following them to 3LO and 3AW he stayed with this team until 2002. He began commentating AFL matches on 3AW in 1996 and he used to present a Saturday morning 3AW show called "Glossing Over" with Trevor Marmalade and Dr. Turf, until it was axed on 21 June 2007, following 3AW's poor ratings in the football timeslots.
