Tony Leonard
Anthony Leonard (born 19 December 1955) is an Australian radio presenter. Career In 1982, he joined the radio comedy team Coodabeen Champions, who were then on 3RRR. Following them to 3LO and 3AW he stayed with this team until 2002. He began commentating AFL matches on 3AW in 1996 and he used to present a Saturday morning 3AW show called "Glossing Over" with Trevor Marmalade and Dr. Turf, until it was axed on 21 June 2007, following 3AW's poor ratings in the football timeslots. Since 1995, Leonard has appeared every Friday on Neil Mitchell's morning 3AW program in a segment called "3AW Pub of the Week", reviewing hotels around Melbourne and surrounding areas. Leonard is a long-serving member of 3AW's AFL football commentary team mainly calling on Saturday Nights and Sundays. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Darren Andrew James (born 7 December 1960) is a long-established Australian radio broadcaster on Melbourne radio station 3AW where he first started working in October 1979. He is also an MC and hosts corporate and public events. Career Darren James's radio career began in October 1979, when he started as an 'office boy' at 3AW. 3AW Presenters
3AW is a talkback radio station based in Melbourne. It broadcasts on 693 kHz AM. It began transmission on 22 February 1932 as Melbourne's fifth commercial radio station. The station is owned and operated by Nine Entertainment Co. History 3AW was established when a company formed by Allans, JC Williamson's and David Syme (then publishers of ''The Age'' newspaper) was granted a radio broadcasting licence, with the first broadcast on 22 February 1932. The A in 3AW comes from the names of "Allans" and "The "Age"; and the W is from "J. C. Williamson". 3AW's first studio was situated in His Majesty's Theatre from whence it broadcast from 1932 to 1935. 3AW's original broadcast frequency was 1425 kHz and changed to 1280 kHz on 1 September 1935 as part of a national reshuffle of the radio broadcasting spectrum. John Burns (radio)
John Burns (born 30 July 1945) is an Australian radio presenter. Career Burns' radio debut was in 1988 on community radio station 3RRR on the program ''Lawyers, Guns & Money'' as the character Sir Lunchalot. Later, the Sir Lunchalot character switched to commercial radio and became a regular Friday morning contributor to the 3AW breakfast show, providing humorous restaurant reviews and tips on dining etiquette. In 2001, Burns joined Ross Stevenson as co-host of 3AW's breakfast program following the retirement of Dean Banks. ''Breakfast with Ross and John'' was the station's top rating program. Ross Stevenson (born Ross Campbell; 25 August 1957) is an Australia radio presenter on Melbourne station 3AW. The lighthearted breakfast news and gossip show, ''Breakfast with Ross & Russel'', is one of Australia's most successful radio shows. Career He attended Trinity Grammar School, Kew, in Melbourne, where he was Dux of the college. Stevenson's initial career was as a lawyer at Melbourne law firm Darvall McCutcheon and then at Slater & Gordon. The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
