3x3 basketball (pronounced ''three-ex-three'') is a variation of basketball played three-a-side, with one backboard and in a half-court setup. According to an ESSEC Business School study commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, 3x3 is the largest urban team sport in the world. This basketball game format is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, the sport's governing body. Its primary competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour, comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament, and awarding six-figure prize money in US dollars. Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's 3x3 Tournament
The 2020 Summer Olympics men's 3x3 basketball tournament in Tokyo, began on 24 and ended on 28 July 2021. All games were played at the Aomi Urban Sports Park. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. Latvia won the title after defeating the Russian Olympic Committee team in the final, while Serbia captured the bronze medal over Belgium. The medals for the competition were presented by Nenad Lalović, Serbia; IOC Executive Board Member, and the medalists' bouquets were presented by Andreas Zagklis, Greece; FIBA Secretary General.
