3e étage
3e étage (from the French 'Third Floor') is a dance company founded in 2004 by dancer-choreographer Samuel Murez, and based in Paris, France. 3e étage dancers are all members of the Paris Opera Ballet, but the administrative and artistic direction are entirely independent from that company. 3e étage receives no subsidies, and operates entirely on income from performance sales to theaters, ticket sales of self-produced performances, and the support of private benefactors. History 3e étage's first performance took place on May 28, 2006, in Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains, France. The cast was composed of: Mathilde Froustey, Josua Hoffalt, Florian Magnenet, Yong-Geol Kim, Muriel Zusperreguy, Ludmila Pagliero, and Samuel Murez. Samuel Murez, born October 22, 1982, is a Franco-American director, choreographer, film-maker, editor, composer, producer, and dancer. He has been a member of the Paris Opera Ballet since 2001. He has been the artistic director of 3e étage, an independent group of soloists and dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet, since its founding in 2004. Roland Petit
Roland Petit (13 January 192410 July 2011) was a French ballet company director, choreographer and dancer. He trained at the Paris Opera Ballet school, and became well known for his creative ballets. Life and work The son of shoe designer Rose Repetto, Petit was born in Villemomble, near Paris. He trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet school under Gustave Ricaux and Serge Lifar and began to dance with the corps de ballet in 1940. He founded the Ballets des Champs-Élysées in 1945 and the Ballets de Paris in 1948, at Théâtre Marigny, with Zizi Jeanmaire as star dancer. Léonore Baulac
Léonore Baulac (born 10 May 1990) is a French ballet dancer. She is an '' étoile'' at the Paris Opera Ballet. Early life Baulac was born in Paris to a Norwegian-born mother. When Baulac was ten, she did not participate in the entrance exam to the Paris Opera Ballet School. She only decided to pursue a career in ballet a year later, but could not enter the school at that time as she was too old. Therefore, she trained with a private teacher. At age 13, she started training at Conservatoire de Paris. She learned contemporary dance there. In 2005, at age 15, Baulac finally entered Paris Opera Ballet School as a paying student. François Alu
François Alu (born 1993 in Fussy) is a French ballet dancer. He danced with the Paris Opera Ballet as an ''danseur étoile, étoile'' (star). He entered the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2004, and the Paris Opera Ballet in 2010. At his first promotion competition in 2011, he was promoted to ''coryphée'', then to ''sujet'' (semi-soloist) in 2013. Agnès Letestu
Agnès Letestu (born 1 February 1971) is a French prima ballerina. Biography She decided to start ballet when she saw her first ballet on TV (''Swan Lake''). Then she had the opportunity to start ballet as a hobby, and her teacher, Mr. Bertin, persuaded her to audition for the ''Opéra Ballet School'' which she joined when she was 10. She was a shy but graceful pupil and was destined to be at the top of the company. Agnes entered the Paris Opera Ballet company in 1987 at the age of 16, became Coryphée in 1988, Sujet in 1989 and première danseuse in 1993. She demonstrated her talents to this major ballet company and was named étoile after a performance of ''Swan Lake'' in October 1997. José Carlos Martínez (dancer)
José Carlos Martínez (born in 29 April 1969 in Cartagena) is a Spanish dancer and choreographer. He was a ''danseur étoile'' of the Paris Opera Ballet and artistic director of the Spanish National Dance Company. He became the director of dance at Paris Opera Ballet in December 2022.
