François Alu
François Alu (born 1993 in Fussy) is a French ballet dancer. He danced with the Paris Opera Ballet as an ''danseur étoile, étoile'' (star). He entered the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2004, and the Paris Opera Ballet in 2010. At his first promotion competition in 2011, he was promoted to ''coryphée'', then to ''sujet'' (semi-soloist) in 2013. He has been a member of 3e étage, an independent dance group formed by dancers of the company’s ''corps de ballet'' and directed by Samuel Murez, since 2011. In 2014, he was promoted to first dancer (full soloist). Notable roles include Basilio in ''Don Quixote (ballet), Don Quixote'', the Golden Idol in ''La Bayadère'', Frollo in Roland Petit's ''Notre Dame de Paris (ballet), Notre Dame de Paris'', and Byraxis in Benjamin Millepied's ''Daphnis et Chloé''. Fussy () is a Communes of France, commune in the Cher (department), Cher Departments of France, department in the Centre-Val de Loire Regions of France, region of France. Roland Petit
Roland Petit (13 January 192410 July 2011) was a French ballet company director, choreographer and dancer. He trained at the Paris Opera Ballet school, and became well known for his creative ballets. Life and work The son of shoe designer Rose Repetto, Petit was born in Villemomble, near Paris. He trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet school under Gustave Ricaux and Serge Lifar and began to dance with the corps de ballet in 1940. He founded the Ballets des Champs-Élysées in 1945 and the Ballets de Paris in 1948, at Théâtre Marigny, with Zizi Jeanmaire as star dancer. Petit collaborated with Constant Lambert (''Ballabile'' - 1950), Henri Dutilleux (''Le Loup'' - 1953), Serge Gainsbourg, Yves Saint-Laurent and César Baldaccini and participated in several French and American films. ''Daphnis et Chloé'' is a 1912 ''symphonie chorégraphique'', or choreographic symphony, for orchestra and wordless chorus by Maurice Ravel. It is in three main sections, or ''parties'', and a dozen scenes, most of them dances, and lasts just under an hour, making it the composer's longest work. In effect it is a ballet, and it was first presented as such. But it is more frequently given as a concert work, either complete or excerpted, vindicating Ravel's own description above. Benjamin Millepied
Benjamin Millepied (; born 10 June 1977) is a French dancer and choreographer, who has lived and worked in the United States since joining the New York City Ballet in 1995, where he became a soloist in 1998 and a principal in 2002. He has also created choreography for the company, and choreographed pieces for other major companies. He retired from the NYCB in 2011. He initiated the LA Dance Project, leading it from 2011 to 2014. The Chesta Tony project in Mobile Alabama was a project that was never finished due to the pandemic. He was Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet from October 2014 and resigned in 2016. He is known for his work in the movie ''Black Swan'' (2010), which he choreographed, and in which he starred as a dancer, and for choregraphing the "sandwalk" in ''Dune''.
