38th National Assembly Of Quebec
The 38th National Assembly of Quebec was elected in the 2007 Quebec general election and sat from May 8, 2007 to November 5, 2008. Jean Charest (Quebec Liberal Party, PLQ) was the Premier and Mario Dumont (Action démocratique du Québec, ADQ) was the leader of the opposition. It ended when the 2008 Quebec general election, 2008 general election was called. 2007 Quebec General Election
The 2007 Quebec general election was held in the Canadian province of Quebec on March 26, 2007 to elect members of the 38th National Assembly of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Premier Jean Charest managed to win a plurality of seats, but were reduced to a minority government, Quebec's first in 129 years, since the 1878 general election. The Action démocratique du Québec, in a major breakthrough, became the official opposition. The Parti Québécois was relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election. The Liberals won their lowest share of the popular vote since Confederation, and the PQ with their 28.35% of the votes cast won their lowest share since 1973 and their second lowest ever (ahead of only the 23.06% attained in their initial election campaign in 1970). Argenteuil (provincial Electoral District)
Argenteuil is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Colomban, Lachute and Brownsburg-Chatham. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed even earlier: see Argenteuil (Province of Canada). The territory of the Argenteuil electoral district in the 2011 electoral map is unchanged from its territory in the 2001 electoral map. Claude Cousineau
Claude Cousineau (born February 20, 1950 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian politician and teacher, who represented the constituency of Bertrand in the National Assembly as a member of the Parti Québécois from 1998 to 2018. Cousineau studied at the Université du Québec à Montréal and obtained a bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology. He also received a certificate in education at the same university. He was a teacher from 1975 to 1978 at a secondary school in Montreal and a science and mathematics teacher at Collège Charles-Lemoyne between 1978 and 1985. He was a program coordinator for three years at the same college and was the general manager of the Académie Laurentienne located near Sainte-Adèle in the Laurentians. Berthier is a provincial electoral district in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Lavaltrie, Saint-Félix-de-Valois, Lanoraie, Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Berthierville, Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez, Saint-Gabriel and Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon. François Benjamin
François Benjamin (born April 18, 1962) is a Canadian politician in Quebec. He was an Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Berthier from 2007 to 2008. Benjamin was born in Montreal, Quebec. From 1999 until his election as MNA, he served as mayor of Mandeville and was the prefect for D'Autray Regional County Municipality. He also worked for Arcon Canada as a supervisor, for Canada Post as an entrepreneur and for Cité-Amérique as a supervisor for the technical production for the movie '' Séraphin: Heart of Stone (Séraphin: un homme et son péché)'' that was filmed in Mandeville in 2002. Beauharnois is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Serge Deslières
Serge Deslières (April 14, 1947 – March 4, 2020) was a Quebec politician and teacher. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Beauharnois in the Montérégie region south of Montreal. He represented the Parti Québécois and was a member of the party since 1969 and MNA from 1994 to 2008. Deslières was born in Montreal. He went to the Université de Montréal and obtained a bachelor's degree in remedial education in 1979. Claude Morin (born August 10, 1953 in Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce, Quebec) is a politician from Quebec, Canada. He was elected as mayor of Saint-Georges, Quebec in the 2013 Quebec municipal elections. Previously, he was an Action démocratique du Québec Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Beauce-Sud from 2007 to 2008. Morin has a bachelor's degree in social sciences from the University of Ottawa. Before his election, he worked within the Canadian Forces for over 15 years in Lille, France, Quebec and Chilliwack, British Columbia as an officer and director. He also worked at the Canadian Department of National Defense as the human resources director and at the NATO offices in Naples as a director for transportation.
