30th Mission Support Group
The 30th Mission Support Group was a support group of the United States Air Force, and later United States Space Force, part of the 30th Space Wing at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The group's predecessor, the 4392nd Aerospace Support Group and Wing, was the principal base operating unit for Vandeberg AFB from 1961 onwards. The unit was inactivated on 14 May 2021. It was originally established as the 30 Air Base Group, Depot, on 10 Nov 1950, and activated on 16 November 1950, as part of the 30th Air Depot Wing. It was then inactivated on 8 Jul 1953, and then disestablished on 27 Sep 1984. The group was reestablished, and consolidated, on 1 November 1991, with the 4392nd Aerospace Support Wing, which was established, and organized, on 21 July 1961. 1st Strategic Aerospace Division
The 1st Strategic Aerospace Division (1st STRAD) is an inactive United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with Strategic Air Command, assigned to Fifteenth Air Force, being stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. It was inactivated on 1 September 1991. The division directed and supervised heavy bombardment (1943–1945) and fighter (1944–1945) operations during World War II within the Eighth Air Force in the European Theater. Replacing the Eighth Air Force in Okinawa in June 1946, the division directed fighter reconnaissance and bomber organizations, and provided air defense for the Ryukyu Islands, Japan until December 1948. Kelly Air Force Base
Kelly Field (formerly Kelly Air Force Base) is a Joint-Use facility located in San Antonio, Texas. It was originally named after George E. M. Kelly, the first member of the U.S. military killed in the crash of an airplane he was piloting. In 2001, pursuant to Base Realignment and Closure, BRAC action, the former Kelly AFB runway and land west of the runway became "Kelly Field" and control of this reduced size installation was transferred to the adjacent Lackland Air Force Base, part of Joint Base San Antonio. RAF Burtonwood
Royal Air Force Burtonwood (or RAF Burtonwood) is a former Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces base that was located in Burtonwood, Northwest of Warrington in Cheshire, England. The base was opened in 1940 in response to World War II by the RAF and in 1942 it was transferred to the United States of America for war operations. The base was home to 18,000 American servicemen at the end of the war. In 1946 the base was transferred back to the United Kingdom however United States operations continued. The base officially closed in 1991 and since then the runway and most of the associated buildings have been demolished. Royal Air Force Brize Norton or RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, about west north-west of London, is the largest station of the Royal Air Force.
