24h (24h.com) is a photography program established by the French photography magazine Photographie.com and kicked off in October 2010 commissioning photographers to document specific events around the globe. During each event, selected photographers are given 24 hours to express their talent and explore and photograph whatever interests them. Selected shots are disseminated live on the 24h.com website. This experiment in "neo-media" enables a photographer's work to be posted very quickly. Manuel Rivera-Ortiz
Manuel Rivera-Ortiz (born December 23, 1968) is a stateside Puerto Rican photographer. He is best known for his social documentary photography of people's living conditions in less developed nations. Rivera-Ortiz lives in Rochester, New York and in Zurich. Life and work Rivera-Ortiz was born into a poor family in the barrio of Pozo Hondo, outside Guayama on the Caribbean coast of Puerto Rico, the eldest of ten children (including four half-siblings and two stepsisters). He grew up in a corrugated tin shack with dirt floors without running water. His father hand-chopped sugar cane in the fields of Central Machete and Central Aguirre in the declining days of the Puerto Rican sugar industry, and, following the Zafra or sugar-harvesting season, labored as a migrant farmworker in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states. Patrick Chauvel
Patrick Chauvel (born 1949 in France) is an independent war photographer whose career began when he was just 17 years old. He has covered more than twenty conflicts all over the world, including the Six-Day War and the Vietnam War. In 1995 he was awarded the World Press Photo commendation for ''Spot News Stories'' for his coverage of the Battle of Grozny during the First Chechen War. He is also author of some documentary movies. On 21 December 1989 during the Invasion of Panama he was critically wounded to the belly by two rounds shot by Marines; Juan Antonio Rodriguez (El Pais) was killed. Jane Evelyn Atwood (born 1947) is an American photographer, who has been living in Paris since 1971. Working primarily with documentary photography, Atwood typically follows groups of people or individuals, focusing mostly on people who are on the fringes of society. Atwood has had ten books of her work published, and received the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, the Grand Prix Paris Match for Photojournalism, the Oskar Barnack Award, the Alfred Eisenstadt Award and the Hasselblad Foundation Grant twice. Paris Photo is an annual international art fair dedicated to photography. It was founded in 1997, and is held in November at the Grand Palais exhibition hall and museum complex, located at the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement in Paris. Claudius Schulze (born 1984) is a German artist and researcher. He is known for his large format landscape photography of social and political topics. Career Claudius Schulze initially studied mechanical engineering and then Political and Islamic studies in Hamburg.
