The 2023 WDF World Darts Championship (officially referred to as the 2023 Lakeside World Darts Championship) will be the 2nd edition of the WDF World Darts Championship organised by the World Darts Federation (WDF). Lakeside Leisure Complex
The Lakeside Leisure Complex is a hotel, conferencing, entertainment and associated leisure complex in Frimley Green in west Surrey. It hosted in January the open/men's and women's BDO World Darts Championship from 1986 to 2019. History The complex was established in 1972, when Bob Potter (born 1928) bought Wharfenden House and the surrounding grounds and lake. He soon doubled the hall to 1,000 seats principally for hosting comedians and musicians, including North American and internationally acclaimed acts. The Lakeside had a fire later that decade and re-opened. During the 25th year of hosting the World Darts Championship, in 2010 the lake had largely iced over by 7 January. That day the body of a man, a hotel guest for the competition week, was found. Landowner-managers, Bob Potter Leisure Limited, were fined ยฃ85,000 for health and safety violations. Frimley Green is a large village and ward of in the Borough of Surrey Heath in Surrey, England, approximately southwest of central London. It is south of the town of Frimley. World Darts Federation
The World Darts Federation (WDF) is a sport governing body and (along with the PDC) a tournament organiser for the game of darts. It was formed in 1974 by representatives of the original fourteen founding members. Membership is open to the national organizing body for darts in all nations. 2022 WDF World Darts Championship
The 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship was the first World Championship organised by the World Darts Federation. The tournament was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, which hosted the now-defunct BDO World Darts Championship from 1986 to 2019. The WDF made the decision to postpone the tournament by three months, due to growing concerns and potential government restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Neil Duff and Thibault Tricole became the first players from Northern Ireland and France respectively to reach the final of a World Darts Championship. Neil Duff (born 22 July 1972) is a Northern Irish professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Beau Greaves (born 9 January 2004) is an English darts player who currently plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. She is the current World Darts Federation women's world champion, having won the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship. She is also a WDF Europe Cup Champion.
