2023 Virginia Elections
The 2023 Virginia elections took place on November 7, 2023. All 40 seats of the Virginia Senate and 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates were up for election, as are many local offices. Special elections also will take place during the year. Federal 2023 Virginia's 4th congressional district special election A special election was held on February 21, 2023 to fill Virginia's 4th congressional district for the remainder of Democrat Donald McEachin's term, who died on November 28, 2022, of colorectal cancer. The Democratic nominee Jennifer McClellan won the special election. Mark Keam
Mark Lee Keam (born May 10, 1966) is a Korean American lawyer. He is a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates in the United States. Virginia Beach City Council
The Virginia Beach City Council is the legislative branch that governs the City of Virginia Beach and its more than 450,000 citizens. It has 11 members that serve four-year terms and are elected on a staggered basis. General elections are held the Tuesday following the first Monday in November in even-numbered years. All registered voters are eligible to vote for all members of City Council. Three Council Members and the Mayor serve "At Large" with no district residency requirement. All other Council Members are required to live in the districts they represent: Bayside, Beach, Centerville, Kempsville, Lynnhaven, Princess Anne, and Rose Hall. WRIC-TV
WRIC-TV (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Petersburg, Virginia, United States, serving the Richmond area as an affiliate of ABC. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, the station maintains studios in unincorporated Chesterfield County (with a Richmond mailing address), overlooking Powhite Parkway just south of the Midlothian Turnpike interchange. Its transmitter is located in Bon Air, on a tower shared with local PBS member stations WCVE (channel 23) and WCVW (channel 57). Virginia's 7th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Senate of Virginia. The seat is currently held by Democrat Aaron Rouse, who was elected in a 2023 special election. Jen Kiggans
Jennifer Ann Kiggans ( née Moore; born June 18, 1971) is an American politician and nurse practitioner serving as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 2nd congressional district. A Republican, Kiggans is a former United States Navy helicopter pilot. She defeated incumbent Elaine Luria in the 2022 election. Early life and career Kiggans was born in Tampa, Florida, and graduated from high school in Orlando, Florida. As a high school student, she worked in Walt Disney World. Aaron Rouse
Aaron Roosevelt Rouse (born January 8, 1984) is a former American football safety who last played for the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Rouse was also a member of the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals and Omaha Nighthawks. In 2018, he entered and won the election for an at-large seat on the Virginia Beach city council. In February 2020, Rouse entered the race for Virginia Beach mayor, but he dropped out of the race in May. States Newsroom is a U.S. tax-exempt organization that serves as an umbrella organization for state-focused news outlets with progressive editorial outlooks. Virginia's 35th House Of Delegates District
Virginia's 35th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 35, in Fairfax County, Virginia, Fairfax County, is currently represented by Democrat Holly Seibold. Democrat Mark Keam, who represented the district since 2010, resigned on September 6, 2022 to take a position in the Biden Administration. Elections Keam narrowly defeated James Hyland in 2007.
