2022 World Rally Championship-2
The 2022 FIA World Rally Championship-2 is the tenth season of the World Rally Championship-2, an auto racing championship for rally cars that is recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile as the second-highest tier of international rallying. The category is open to cars entered by teams and complying with Group Rally2. The championship will begin in January 2022 with the Rallye Monte-Carlo and is due to conclude in November 2022 with Rally Japan, and will run in support of the 2022 World Rally Championship. Andreas Mikkelsen and Torstein Eriksen are the defending 2021 drivers' and co-drivers' champions. Movisport are the defending teams' champions. World Rally Championship-2
The FIA WRC2 (previously also known as World Rally Championship 2 and WRC 2), is a support championship of the World Rally Championship. The calendar consists of the same rallies and stages as the main class and crews usually compete immediately after. WRC2 is limited to production-based cars homologated under Group Rally2 (or previous R5) rules. There are separate specific championship titles awarded to Teams, Drivers and Co-Drivers (including titles for ''Challengers'' in 2023, previously for Juniors under 30 years old). The M-Sport Ford World Rally Team (formerly M-Sport World Rally Team, Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team and Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team) is the privately run World Rally Championship team of M-Sport, the firm run by Malcolm Wilson that was previously responsible for the operation of the former Ford World Rally Team. John Kennard (born 11 February 1959) is a rally co-driver born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Hayden Paddon (born 20 April 1987) is a New Zealand rally driver. He was PWRC world champion in 2011 and won the New Zealand Rally Championship in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2021. Career Paddon was introduced into motorsport at an early age, his father Chris being a rally driver, beginning his career competing in karting. Mikko Markkula (born 3 January 1981) is a Finnish rally co-driver. Rally career Mikko Markkula began his rally career in 2001, co-driving for several drivers in the World Rally Championship. From 2007 to 2011, he was the co-driver of Juho Hänninen. In 2013, Markkula started to co-drive for Andreas Mikkelsen in a third Volkswagen Polo R WRC. Teemu Suninen (born February 1, 1994) is a Finnish rally driver. Suninen was driving for Malcolm Wilson's M-Sport WRT in WRC between 2017 and 2021. His manager is Timo Jouhki. Rally career Suninen won the WRC-3 class in the 2014 Rally Finland and 2015 Rally Italia Sardegna driving a Citroën DS3 R3T, and won the WRC-2 class in the 2015 Wales Rally GB driving a Škoda Fabia S2000.
