2022 Mississippi State Bulldogs Baseball Team
The 2022 Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team represented Mississippi State University in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Dudy Noble Field. They entered this season as the defending national champions. Previous season The Bulldogs finished 50–18, 20–10 in the SEC to finish in second place in the West. The Bulldogs swept the Starkville Regional and then hosted Notre Dame in the Starkville Super Regional. They advanced to the College World Series where they defeated Vanderbilt in the Championship Series to win the program's and institution's first team national championship, as there have been individual national champions in various sports. Chris Lemonis
Christopher Michael Lemonis (born January 22, 1970) is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team. Lemonis grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He played college baseball as a first baseman at The Citadel, where he appeared with the team in the 1990 College World Series. He later earned All-SoCon honors twice and led the team in several offensive categories as a senior in 1993. In 1995, Lemonis began his coaching career as an assistant coach for The Citadel, a position he would hold until 2006. During his time on staff, The Citadel qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times and had seven All-American players. From 2007 to 2014, Lemonis was an assistant coach at Louisville, helping Louisville make seven NCAA Tournament appearances including the 2007 College World Series. Dylan DeLucia
Dylan Joseph DeLucia (born August 1, 2000) is an American college baseball pitcher in the Cleveland Guardians organization. DeLucia graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He began his college baseball career at Northwest Florida State College, before he transferred to the University of Mississippi to play for the Ole Miss Rebels baseball, Ole Miss Rebels after two seasons. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player for the 2022 College World Series. After the season, ''Baseball America'' named DeLucia a third team All-American. Oxford is a city and college town in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Oxford lies 75 miles (121 km) south-southeast of Memphis, Tennessee, and is the county seat of Lafayette County. Oxford-University Stadium at Swayze Field is the home of the University of Mississippi Rebels college baseball team, the 2022 NCAA National Champions, and is located in Oxford, Mississippi. It is named in honor of Tom Swayze, a former Ole Miss baseball player and coach. The $3.75 million stadium opened on February 19, 1989, with a double header sweep of Cumberland University. The actual stadium sits on city property off-campus and was built by the City of Oxford, using a 2% Local Tourism Tax on prepared food and alcohol to pay for it. The 2022 Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team represented the University of Arkansas in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Razorbacks played their home games at Baum–Walker Stadium. Previous season The 2021 Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team, Razorbacks finished 50–13, 22–8 in the SEC to win the regular season conference title.
