Butch Thompson (baseball)
Butch Thompson (born December 15, 1970) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Auburn Tigers baseball, Auburn Tigers. He was named to that position prior to the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. He has led Auburn to the College World Series in 2019 and 2022. In 2014, he was named the ABCA/''Baseball America'' Assistant Coach of the Year. Playing career Thompson played two seasons at Itawamba Indians baseball, Itawamba Community College before his final two years of eligibility at Birmingham–Southern Panthers baseball, Birmingham–Southern. The 2022 Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team represented Mississippi State University in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Dudy Noble Field. They entered this season as the defending national champions. Previous season The Bulldogs finished 50–18, 20–10 in the SEC to finish in second place in the West. The Bulldogs swept the Starkville Regional and then hosted Notre Dame in the Starkville Super Regional. Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field is a baseball stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is the home stadium of the Louisiana State University Tigers baseball team. The stadium section (and LSU's previous baseball stadium 200 yards to the north) were named for Simeon Alex Box, an LSU letterman (1942), Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross recipient, who was killed in North Africa during World War II. Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park is a baseball stadium in College Station, Texas, that is home to the Texas A&M baseball program. The stadium was dedicated on March 21, 1978, and is named in honor of C. E. "Pat" Olsen, a 1923 graduate of Texas A&M University and a former baseball player in the New York Yankees farm system.
