Dylan DeLucia
Dylan Joseph DeLucia (born August 1, 2000) is an American college baseball pitcher in the Cleveland Guardians organization. DeLucia graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He began his college baseball career at Northwest Florida State College, before he transferred to the University of Mississippi to play for the Ole Miss Rebels baseball, Ole Miss Rebels after two seasons. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player for the 2022 College World Series. After the season, ''Baseball America'' named DeLucia a third team All-American. Eligible to be selected in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft, the Cleveland Guardians selected DeLucia in the sixth round, with the 181st overall pick. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. 2022 College World Series
The 2022 NCAA Men's College World Series was the final stage of the 2022 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. It was scheduled from June 17–27 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, but ended on June 26. This marked the 75th edition of the College World Series and 72nd time the event was held in Omaha. The 2022 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft took place on July 17–19, 2022, in Los Angeles. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The draft order was based on the reverse order of the 2021 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2021 MLB Draft. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. The Ole Miss Rebels baseball team represents the University of Mississippi in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
