2022 Cetinje Shooting
On 12 August 2022, a spree shooting occurred in Cetinje, Montenegro. Ten people were killed, including two children, and six others were wounded. The gunman, identified as 33-year-old Vučko Borilović, was shot and killed after engaging in a gun battle with police officers. It is the deadliest shooting in Montenegro since the 1944 Cetinje massacre. Shooting At about 3:30 p.m. on 12 August 2022, Borilović entered his home in the Medovina neighbourhood of Cetinje, where he engaged in an argument with the family that were sub-tenants. He fatally shot three family members, including two children, with a hunting carbine. Borilović proceeded to call their father, who was not present at the time, to inform him that he had killed his wife and children. Cetinje
Cetinje (, ) is a town in Montenegro. It is the former royal capital (''prijestonica'' / приjестоница) of Montenegro and is the location of several national institutions, including the official residence of the president of Montenegro. According to the 2011 census, the town had a population of 14,093 while the Cetinje Municipality had 16,657 residents . Cetinje is the centre of Cetinje Municipality. The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography. 2021 Montenegrin Episcopal Enthronement Protests
A series of violent protests against the enthronement of Joanikije II, Metropolitan of Montenegro, Joanikije Mićović of the Serbian Orthodox Church as the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral took place at the historic Cetinje Monastery in September 2021. The 2022 Serbia EuroBasket team represented Serbia at the EuroBasket 2022 in the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, and Germany. The 2022–23 Montenegrin First League was the 17th season of the first tier association football in the country of Montenegro. The season began on 23 July 2022 and ended on 25 May 2023. Kotor (Montenegrin Cyrillic: Котор, ), historically known as Cattaro (from Italian: ), is a coastal town in Montenegro. It is located in a secluded part of the Bay of Kotor. Lovćen National Park
Lovćen ( cyrl, Ловћен, ) is a mountain and national park in southwestern Montenegro. It is the inspiration behind the names ''Montenegro'' and ''Crna Gora'', both of which mean "Black Mountain" and refer to the appearance of Mount Lovćen when covered in dense forests. The name ''Crna Gora'' was first mentioned in a charter issued by Stefan Milutin in 1276 and was used for several regions across medieval Serbian lands, including Skopska Crna Gora and Užička Crna Gora.
