2021–22 Angolan Basketball League
The 2021–22 Angolan Basketball League, for sponsorship reasons the 2021–22 Unitel Basket, is the 44th season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. The season consisted of 13 teams and began on 22 December 2021 and ended on 10 May 2022. Petro de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda won its 15th national title while also winning the Taça de Angola (basketball), Angolan Cup and Supertaça de Angola (basketball), Supercup this season. In all league games, Petro was unbeaten and had a 31–0 record including the playoffs. Teams The league expanded from nine to thirteen teams as Akira Academy, Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito (basketball), CPPL (after 6 years of absence), Clube Amigos de Benguela and G.D. The 2020–21 Angolan Basketball League was the 43rd season of the Angolan Basketball League, the highest premier basketball league in Angola. It was the first season after the previous season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Petro de Luanda (basketball), Petro de Luanda won its 14th championship. Teams Jesus Cristo Basquetebol, Jesus Cristo and the second teams of Petro de Luanda and Primeiro de Agosto entered the league for the first time. The Angolan Men's Basketball League, (in Portuguese: Campeonato Nacional de Basquetebol em Séniores Masculinos) is the top tier men’s basketball league in Angola. The league was formerly known as BAI Basket, BIC Basket and Unitel Basket, named after its major sponsors, formerly Banco Africano de Investimentos, Banco de Investimento e Crédito and Unitel, the competition is organized by the Angolan Basketball Federation. The Pavilhão Anexo is an Angolan state-owned indoor arena located in Complexo Desportivo da Cidadela, Luanda. The arena, with a 1500-seat capacity, is the second to be built in the Cidadela Sports Compound, following the Pavilhão da Cidadela. José Carlos Ribeiro de Carvalho Guimarães (born 9 April 1964 in Luanda), known as Zé Carlos, is a former Angolan basketball player and a former coach of the Angola national basketball team. He played as a guard and as a forward. He achieved a huge success in his career playing for Portuguese side S.L. Pavilhão Victorino Cunha, formerly Pavilhão do CODENM a.k.a. Pavilhão do Rio Seco is the Arena of Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto, mainly used for its Men's and Women's basketball teams. José Alves dos Santos Neto (born 16 March 1971) is a Brazilian professional basketball coach.
