2021 Algarve Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2021 Algarve motorcycle Grand Prix (officially known as the Grande Prémio Brembo do Algarve) was the seventeenth round of the 2021 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It was held at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão on 7 November 2021. In the MotoGP class, Ducati secured its second consecutive Constructors' Championship. In the Moto3 class, Pedro Acosta won the Riders' Championship after main title rival Dennis Foggia crashed on the last lap after being hit by Darryn Binder. Acosta became the first rookie rider to win a World Championship since Loris Capirossi who won the 125cc championship in . Acosta is also the second youngest rider ever to win a world championship, just one day older than Capirossi. Brembo S.p.A. is an Italian manufacturer of automotive brake systems, especially for high-performance cars and motorcycles. Its head office is in Curno, Bergamo, Italy. History Brembo was established in Paladina, Italy on January 11, 1961 by Emilio Bombassei and Italo Breda (father and uncle, respectively, to the current Chairman Alberto Bombassei). The company was named after the Brembo river, as Bombassei lived in a village on the coast of the river before moving to Milan. Soon after Brembo was formed, it specialized in disc brakes, which were imported from the UK at the time. Fabio Quartararo (; born 20 April 1999), nicknamed El Diablo, is a French Grand Prix motorcycle rider racing in MotoGP for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP. Having won the 2021 MotoGP World Championship, he is the first French World Champion in the premier class' history. Pol Espargaró Villà (born 10 June 1991) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer who for 2023 will ride in the MotoGP class for the newly named GasGas Factory Racing team, a development of Tech3. Dennis Foggia (born 7 January 2001) is an Italian motorcycle rider who is scheduled to compete in the 2023 Moto2 World Championship, riding for Italtrans Racing Team. He previously competed in Moto3, becoming the 2021 runner-up. Career Early career Foggia made his debut in motorcycle racing at age 15, during the 2016 FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship, riding for the VR46 Riders Academy team, along with Celestino Vietti.
