The 2020–21 Austrian Football Bundesliga, also known as Tipico Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons, was the 109th season of top-tier football in Austria. Red Bull Salzburg were the seven-times defending champions. Teams Changes Mattersburg withdrew from the Bundesliga after 17 seasons due to filing for insolvency, sparing WSG Tirol from relegation. The Austrian Football Bundesliga (german: Österreichische Fußball-Bundesliga, italic=no , "Austrian Football Federal League"), also known as Admiral Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Austrian football league system. The competition decides the Austrian national football champions, as well the country's entrants for the various European cups run by UEFA. Since Austria stayed in sixteenth place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2015–16 season, the league gained its first spot for the UEFA Champions League for the 2016-2017 season. The Austrian Bundesliga, which began in the 1974–75 season, has been a separate registered association since 1 December 1991. SV Mattersburg
SV Mattersburg was an Austrian association football club from Mattersburg, Burgenland. History The club was formed in 1922 and played its home games at the 17,100 capacity Pappelstadion. The club played in the Bundesliga since the 2003–04 season. SV Mattersburg drew large crowds, with the average crowd for the 2004–05 season being the second highest in Austria, even though the town of Mattersburg has only 6,300 inhabitants. In the 2006–07 season, Mattersburg finished third in the Bundesliga, the highest position in their history. The Waldstadion (), currently known as Raiffeisen Arena for sponsorship purposes, is a multi-use stadium in Pasching, Austria. It is used for football matches and is the home ground of FC Juniors OÖ. Austrian Bundesliga club LASK Linz will use the stadium until their new stadium is complete in 2023. The stadium holds 7,870 and was built in 1990. In 2016, LASK purchased the VIP tent from SV Grödig and installed it in the stadium. The Franz Horr Stadium, formally known as Generali Arena for sponsorship reasons and Viola Park for international matches, is a football stadium in the south of Vienna, Austria. It has been the home ground of FK Austria Wien since 1973. The stadium was built in 1925 as the new home of Czech immigrants' club SK Slovan and had a capacity of 10,850. Named after another Czech football club which owned the ground, the stadium was called České srdce ("Czech heart") ground. Largely destroyed during World War II, each of the four stands has been reconstructed several times since.
