2020–21 Austin Peay Governors Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Austin Peay Governors basketball team represented Austin Peay State University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Governors, led by fourth-year head coach Matt Figger, played their home games at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tennessee as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. Previous season The Governors finished the 2019–20 season 21–12, 14–4 in OVC play to finish in third place. They defeated Eastern Illinois in the quarterfinals of the OVC tournament to advance to the semifinals, where they lost to Murray State. With 21 wins, they were a candidate for postseason play. However, all postseason tournaments were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Matt Figger
Matt Figger is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team. He previously served as the head coach at Austin Peay. Coaching career Figger got his college coaching start at Wabash Valley in 1993 as an assistant coach, before moving on to Vincennes and Odessa College to serve as an assistant coach. Figger also had assistant coaching stops at South Alabama, and Arkansas before landing on Frank Martin's staff at Kansas State. Figger followed Martin as an assistant coach to South Carolina. Figger was a part of the Gamecocks Final Four appearance in the 2017 NCAA tournament. The Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball team represents the University of Oklahoma in men's NCAA Division I basketball. The Sooners play in the Big 12 Conference. Silsbee High School
Silsbee High School is a public high school in Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas. It is the only high school in the Silsbee Independent School District. Their mascot is the Tiger. Controversy The school and the school district have been criticized for expelling a cheerleader from the school's cheerleading squad because of her refusal to cheer for a basketball player who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting her. The charges were dropped down to assault a year later and the player was given probation. School officials also encouraged the victim to "keep a low profile" and avoid the school cafeteria. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in November 2010 that the victim — who is identified only as H.S. — had no right to refuse to applaud her attacker, because as a cheerleader in uniform, she was an agent of the school.
