Matt Figger
Matt Figger is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team. He previously served as the head coach at Austin Peay. Coaching career Figger got his college coaching start at Wabash Valley in 1993 as an assistant coach, before moving on to Vincennes and Odessa College to serve as an assistant coach. Figger also had assistant coaching stops at South Alabama, and Arkansas before landing on Frank Martin's staff at Kansas State. Figger followed Martin as an assistant coach to South Carolina. Figger was a part of the Gamecocks Final Four appearance in the 2017 NCAA tournament. Frank Martin (basketball)
Francisco José Martin (born March 23, 1966) is an American basketball coach serving as the head coach for the University of Massachusetts men's basketball team. Martin was previously the head coach of the University of South Carolina men's basketball team for ten seasons. Prior to that, he was the head coach of Kansas State University for five seasons. Martin has led his teams to a total of five NCAA tournaments and 1 Final Four appearance as a head coach. He was named the Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in 2010. He won the Jim Phelan Award in 2017. Early life and career Martin, who grew up in Miami, Florida, is the son of Cuban political exiles and the first American-born member of his family. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education from Florida International University in 1993.

2021–22 Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as members of the Western Athletic Conference. The team was led by first-year head coach Matt Figger. With the exception of two games at Bert Ogden Arena, the Vaqueros played their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. Both venues are in Edinburg, Texas. Previous season The Vaqueros finished the 2020–21 season 9–10, 2–5 in WAC play to finish in a tie for seventh place. In the first round of the WAC tournament, they lost to New Mexico State. On February 6, 2021, following a game against Texas Southern, head coach Lew Hill announced that he would be stepping away to focus on his health. The 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 9, 2021 and concluded on March 13, 2022. The 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament culminated the season and began on March 15 and concluded on April 4 with the championship game at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rule changes The following rule changes have been recommended by the NCAA Basketball Rules Committee to the Playing Rules Oversight Panel for the 2021–22 season: *Flopping can result in a technical foul. *Increase to six personal fouls before disqualification, with a maximum of four fouls allowed per half (experimental in NIT for 2022).
