2020 United States Men's Curling Championship
The 2020 United States Men's Curling Championship was held from February 8 to 15, 2020 at the Eastern Washington University#University Recreation Center (URC), Eastern Washington University Recreation Center in Spokane, Washington. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 United States Women's Curling Championship. John Shuster claimed his seventh United States Championship, defeating Rich Ruohonen in the final. Since Team Shuster met certain prerequisites in terms of world ranking points (60 points year-to-date or ranked 70th or higher) they would have represented the United States at the 2020 World Men's Curling Championship, which was scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland from March 28 to April 5, 2020 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. World Curling Federation
The World Curling Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for curling accreditation, with offices in Perth, Scotland. It was formed out of the International Curling Federation (ICF), when the push for Olympic Winter Sport status was made. The name was changed in 1990. The ICF was initially formed in 1966 as a committee of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth after the success of the Scotch Cup series of world championships held between Canada and Scotland. At the outset, it comprised the associations of Scotland, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States. In the wake of its formation, it sanctioned the World Curling Championships. Andrew Stopera
Andrew Stopera (born September 30, 1997) is an American curler from Briarcliff Manor, New York. He currently throws third rocks and skips Team Korey Dropkin. He is a three-time United States Junior Champion and won the silver medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Career Stopera had a prolific junior curling career, playing in the United States Junior Championships seven straight years, 2013–2019, and medaling every time. The first two seasons of his junior career Stopera played third for Scott Dunnam's team. They earned bronze at the 2013 Junior Nationals and improved to silver at the 2014 Junior Nationals. Dunnam aged out of juniors after the 2013–14 season and Stopera joined the United States Curling Association's (USCA) Junior High Performance Program. Todd Birr
Todd Birr (born April 20, 1968) is an American curler. He was a bronze medalist at the 2007 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Birr skipped his team to victory at the 2007 United States Curling Men's Championships, beating out teams such as Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson and former national champion Jason Larway in the process. He had relative success in prior nationals finishing fourth in 2006 and as a semi-finalist in 2004. His victory qualified his team of Bill Todhunter, Greg Johnson and Kevin Birr to a berth at the 2007 Ford World Men's Curling Championship representing team USA. Joe Polo
Joseph Polo (born December 10, 1982) is an American curler who is best known for winning a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics and being the alternate on the gold-medal winning United States men's team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Polo was raised in Floodwood, Minnesota before moving to Cass Lake. He learned to curl in nearby Bemidji at the age of 10 in the Bemidji Curling Club's Sunday Night Junior League. Korey Dropkin (born June 11, 1995) is an American curler originally from Southborough, Massachusetts. Curling career Juniors As a junior curler, Dropkin won three United States Junior Curling Championships, playing third for brother Stephen in 2012 and skipping in 2013 and 2016 while curling at Broomstones Curling Club in Wayland, MA. As such, he played for the United States at the World Junior Curling Championships, finishing 5th at the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships and 7th at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships. Luc Violette (born March 8, 1999) is an American curler from Edmonds, Washington. He is a five-time United States Junior Champion and was a silver medalist at both the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics and the 2017 World Junior Championships.
