2020 Liga 1 (Peru)
The 2020 Liga 1 de Fútbol Profesional (known as the Liga 1 Movistar 2020 for sponsorship reasons) was the 104th season of the Peruvian Primera División, the highest division of Peruvian Association football, football. A total of 20 teams competed in the season with Escuela Municipal Deportivo Binacional, Binacional coming in as defending champions. The season started on 31 January 2020 and concluded on 20 December 2020 with the second leg of the finals. Sporting Cristal won its 20th domestic championship by beating Club Universitario de Deportes, Universitario in the finals by a 3–2 aggregate score. The competition was suspended between 12 March and 7 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru, COVID-19 pandemic, being once again suspended that same day after one match had been played. It has been referred to as Torneo Descentralizado since 1966, when the first teams residing outside the Lima and Callao provinces were invited to compete in the inaugural league national competition. Escuela Municipal Deportivo Binacional
Escuela Municipal Deportivo Binacional or Binacional is a Peruvian football club from Desaguadero District in the Puno Region who currently plays its home games in the city of Juliaca. The team currently plays in the Peruvian Primera División. History Founding The club was founded on December 18, 2010, by the mayor of the Desaguadero District, Juan Carlos Aquino, under the name ''Club Deportivo Binacional de Desaguadero''. The district is close to the Peru–Bolivia border and thus was called ''Binacional'', or Bi-national in English. 2019 Peruvian Promotion Play-offs
The 2019 Peruvian promotion play-offs or Cuadrangular de Ascenso 2019 will be held in December 2019 with all games being played at a neutral ground yet to be determined. The play-offs determined the third and fourth team to be promoted to the Liga 1 following that tournament's expansion. The teams placed 2nd and 3rd in the 2019 Liga 2 and 2019 Copa Perú will take part in the promotion play-offs. The top two placed team in the play-offs will gain promotion to the 2020 Liga 1 and the bottom two will qualify to the 2020 Liga 2. 2019 Copa Perú
The 2019 Peru Cup season ( es, Copa Perú 2019), the largest amateur tournament of Peruvian football, started in February. This edition has featured a change, with the elimination of the Regional Stage and the inclusion of participants from all the Regions of Peru in the National Stage. Under the new format, the tournament has four stages. The first three stages are played as mini-league round-robin tournaments, and the fourth stage is played under POT System intellectual property of the MatchVision company. The 2019 Liga 2 season was the 74th edition of the second tier of Federación Peruana de Futbol. The season play started in April 2019 and ended on 1 December 2019. Before the season, the clubs Deportivo Hualgayoc and Sport Rosario were relegated to the Copa Perú for outstanding debts with the SAFAP. Sport Victoria was disabled mid-season and relegated to the Copa Perú for outstanding debts with the SAFAP. Competition modus The season has two phases: a home-and-away round-robin phase and a liguilla (league). The team with the most points at the end of the first phase will be crowned 2019 Liga 2 champions and will be promoted to the 2020 Liga 1. The 2020 Liga 2 season was the 75th edition of the second tier of Federación Peruana de Futbol. The season's play started on October 27, 2020 and ended on December 27, 2020. 2020 Copa Bicentenario
The 2020 Copa Bicentenario was a planned tournament with the participation of the 20 teams of the Liga 1, and 10 teams of the Liga 2. The champions would have been entitled to qualify for the 2021 Copa Sudamericana, as well as the Supercopa Peruana against the Liga 1 champions. Atlético Grau are the defending champions.
