2020 Curtis Cup
The 41st Curtis Cup Match was played from 26–28 August 2021 at Conwy Golf Club near Conwy, Wales. It was originally scheduled for 12–14 June 2020 but was postponed to 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Great Britain & Ireland had the better of the first day and led to by 4 points to 1 points at the end of the day. The USA team levelled the match at 6 points a piece by the end of the second day. The third day singles matches were initially very tight but ultimately, most of the matches swung toward the USA team and they secured 6 points of the 8 available. The USA team retained the Curtis Cup with a total score of 12 to 7 for the GB&I team. It was the USA's first away win in the contest since 2008. Format The contest was a three-day competition, with three foursomes and three fourball matches on each of the first two days, and eight singles matches on the final day, a total of 20 points. Conwy Golf Club
Conwy Golf Club in Conwy, Wales was officially opened as Caernarfonshire Golf Club in 1890. The links course on the Morfa Conwy peninsula was designed by Jack Morris (nephew of Old Tom Morris). The championship course is long with a par of 72. History In 1869 a nine-hole course was set out by three Scottish gentlemen, which lays its claim to being the first golf course in Wales. A new nine hole course was laid out in 1875, when members of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club commissioned its design by their club professional, Jack Morris. Caernarfonshire Golf Club was formally established at Conwy Guildhall on 30 June 1890. In 1895 the course was extended to 18 holes and the club was a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union. Charlotte Heath (born 25 November 2001) is an English amateur golfer. She won the Smyth Salver as the low amateur at the 2023 Women's British Open. Amateur career Heath reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Girls Amateur Championship and won the 2020 Australian Women's Amateur against Indonesia's Mela Putri with a 7&6 score. Gina Kim (born May 4, 2000) is an American professional golfer. Background Kim was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to parents of Korean origin. They moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, when Gina was age 3. She took up golfing at age 7, encouraged by her parents, who both played golf before becoming professors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. By mid-2014 and at age 14, she was ranked the No. 1 female junior golfer (under 18) in North Carolina. She graduated from Chapel Hill High School and joined Duke University women's golf team in August 2018. World Amateur Golf Ranking
The World Amateur Golf Ranking for men was introduced by The R&A, the governing body of the sport of golf outside the United States and Mexico, on 23 January 2007. It is based on the results of over 2,600 amateur tournaments per year (and amateurs participating in certain professional events) and is updated each Wednesday. Rankings are based on the players' average performances in counting events over a rolling period. This period was 52 weeks initially but was gradually expanded during 2016 to 104 weeks, similar to those of the Official World Golf Ranking. Like the Official World Golf Ranking for male professional golfers, the amateur ranking was initiated by The R&A to provide a more reliable means of selecting an appropriate field for one of its tournaments.
