2020 Campeonato Alagoano
The 2020 Campeonato Alagoano (officially the Campeonato Alagoano Smile 2020 for sponsorship reasons) was the 90th edition of the top football league in Alagoas. It began on 22 January 2020 and ended on 5 August 2020. The final was played behind closed doors between CSA and CRB at the Estádio Rei Pelé in Maceió on 5 August 2020. CRB won the match 1–0, securing their 31st title. First phase Originally, the team with the lowest number of points would be relegated to Campeonato Alagoano Sub 23–Série B 2021, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, the relegation in the 2020 season was canceled by FAF. The Campeonato Alagoano is the football league of the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Format 2020 First Division The Campeonato Alagoano is divided into three stages. *First stage: simple round-robin, in which all eight teams play each other once. The four best-placed teams go to the Semifinals. *Semifinals: home-and-away playoff with the top 4 teams of the first stage (1st place x 4th place, 2nd place x 3rd place), with the two winners going to the Finals. *Finals: home-and-away playoff between the two qualified teams. The winner is declared the Campeonato Alagoano champion. The last-placed team in the first stage is relegated to the second division. Welington Pereira Rodrigues (born 4 January 1986), commonly known as Gum, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for CRB as a central defender. Luciano Castán da Silva (born September 13, 1989) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Cruzeiro as a central defender. Club career Castán started his professional career with União São João in 2007, before moving to Santos in January 2010.
