2020 CS Budapest Trophy
The 2020 CS Budapest Trophy was held in October 2020 in Budapest, Hungary. It was part of the 2020–21 ISU Challenger Series. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, and ice dance. On September 10, 2020, the Hungarian National Skating Federation released the Hungarian government's COVID rules to which foreign competitors were required to adhere in order to gain entry to the country. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. George Waddell (figure Skater)
George Waddell (born 17 October 1998) is a British-Canadian ice dancer. With his skating partner, Sasha Fear, he is the 2020 CS Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist and the 2020 CS Budapest Trophy bronze medalist. On the junior level, he is a two-time British junior national champion (2018, 2019) and has competed in the final segment at the 2019 World Junior Championships. Personal life Waddell was born on 17 October 1998 in Toronto, Canada to a Canadian mother and a Scottish father. He has a twin brother, Charles, who was formerly an ice dancer and a younger brother, Bruce, who competes as a singles skater and formerly in ice dance with Natalie D'Alessandro. Sasha Fear (born 23 May 2002) is a British ice dancer. With her former skating partner, George Waddell, she is the 2020 CS Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist and the 2020 CS Budapest Trophy bronze medalist. On the junior level, she is a two-time British junior national champion (2018, 2019) and has competed in the final segment at the 2019 World Junior Championships. Tim Dieck (born 7 April 1996) is a German competitive ice dancer. With his former skating partner Katharina Müller, he is a two-time German national champion and has won many senior international medals, including two silver medals on the ISU Challenger Series and three gold medals at the German NRW Trophy. They have represented Germany at the European and World championships. In December 2022, it was announced that Dieck had teamed up with British-Spanish ice dancer Olivia Smart. Kristina Lisovskaja (''née'' Škuleta-Gromova; born 15 September 2000) is an Estonian figure skater. Eva-Lotta Kiibus (born 17 January 2003) is an Estonian figure skater. She is the 2020 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, a two-time Estonian national champion (2020–21), and a three-time Tallink Hotels Cup champion (2018–2019, 2021). Aleksandr Selevko (born 23 May 2001) is an Estonian figure skater. He is the 2017 Egna Spring Trophy bronze medalist, the 2019 Nordics bronze medalist, and a three-time Estonian national champion (2020–22). He has competed in the final segment at five ISU Championships – two World Junior Championships (2016, 2020), two European Championships (2019, 2020) and once at World Figure Skating Championships (2021). Emilea Zingas (born April 22, 2002) is a Cypriot-American figure skater. Competing in ice dancing with her skating partner, Vadym Kolesnik, she is the 2022 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb bronze medalist and 2023 U.S. national pewter medalist. Zingas previously represented Cyprus in women's singles, and was the 2020 Santa Claus Cup silver medalist and the 2021 Challenge Cup bronze medalist. Marilena Kitromilis (born October 15, 2004) is a Cypriot-American figure skater who represents Cyprus in women's singles skating. She is the 2021 CS Autumn Classic International champion. She is the first Cypriot figure skater to win an ISU-sanctioned international competition. Kitromilis also made history by being the first Cypriot figure skater to attend a senior Grand Prix event.
