2019–20 UCI Track Cycling World Cup
The 2019–20 UCI Track Cycling World Cup (also known as the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a multi-race tournament over a track cycling season. It is the 28th series of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup organised by the UCI. This was the last season of the competition as World Cup because from 2021, the competition will be renamed to UCI Track Cycling Nations Cup. Series Six rounds are scheduled: # November 1–3, 2019 in Minsk, Belarus. # November 8–10, 2019 in Glasgow, United Kingdom. # November 29 – December 1, 2019 in Hong Kong, China. # December 6–8, 2019 in Cambridge, New Zealand. # December 13–15, 2019 in Brisbane, Australia. # January 24–26, 2020 in Milton, Canada. UCI Track Cycling World Cup
The UCI Track Cycling World Cup (formerly known as the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics) is a multi race tournament held over a track cycling season - usually between October and February. Each series is divided into several rounds, each held in a different country. Format The UCI Track Cycling World Cup is a key event within the Track Cycling calendar, with only the World Championships and the Olympic Games attracting more World Ranking points. The series is open to national teams and registered trade teams who compete over a number of track cycling disciplines. The overall classification is decided on a points system with riders or teams amassing points in each discipline competed during each round of the series. The rider or team that has the greatest number of points in each discipline wears a white jersey in that discipline in the following round to denote their status as leader. Kwesi Browne (born 31 January 1994) is a Trinidad and Tobago male track cyclist, representing Trinidad and Tobago at international competitions. He won the bronze medal in the keirin at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and also at the 2016 Pan American Track Cycling Championships. Gazprom–RusVelo (), a part of the Russian Global Cycling Project and sponsored by Gazprom, is a Russian road and track cycling team that suspended its activities in 2022. It was founded in late 2011 and granted UCI Professional Continental status. For its first season 2012 the team signed several ex- riders along with a few ones from Continental Team . RusVelo initially included both men's and women's rosters. The directors are Viatcheslav Ekimov, Oleg Grishkin, Egon van Kessel from the Netherlands, and Australian Henk Vogels. The General Manager was Heiko Salzwedel. In March 2022 the team's licence was revoked by the UCI following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Shane Perkins (russian: Шейн Перкинс; born 30 December 1986) is an Australian and Russian (since 17 August 2017) professional track cyclist. Biography Early life Perkins was born in Melbourne, the son of Daryl Perkins. As a youngster, Perkins played cricket, football and basketball. He played basketball at a very high level aged 7 to 14, but did not enjoy it enough to continue. Perkins rode BMX for a short while and began cycling aged 13 in 1999 with his father, who had himself been a successful cyclist. His first cycling club was the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club, and his first medal was won at the Victoria state championships at Northcote, it was a gold medal in the sprint event, where he beat friend and rival Michael Ford. Denis Sergeyevich Dmitriev (russian: Денис Сергеевич Дмитриев; born 23 March 1986) is a Russian track cyclist. Specialising in the sprint events, Dmitriev's best result in international sports was winning a gold medal at the 2017 World Championships in Hong Kong. At the 2016 Summer Olympics he succeeded to the bronze medal race in sprint, winning the medal.
