2019–20 SIU Edwardsville Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's basketball team represented Southern Illinois University Edwardsville during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars, led by first-year head coach Brian Barone, played their home games in the First Community Arena at Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 8–23, 5–13 in OVC play to finish in a tie for tenth place. They failed to qualify for the OVC tournament. Previous season The Cougars finished the 2018–19 season 10–21, 6–12 in OVC play to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. The Cougars received the No. 8 seed in the OVC Tournament where they lost in the first round to Morehead State. Brian Barone
Brian Barone is the head coach or the men's basketball team at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), an NCAA Division I program competing in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). Coaching history Barone began his coaching career as a junior college assistant at Central Florida Community College, then at Garden City Community College in Kansas. He began his Division I coaching career at Illinois State under head coach Porter Moser, currently the head men's basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago. After five seasons at ISU, he became the coordinator of basketball operations and video coordinator at Marquette under head coach Tom Crean. He followed Crean to Indiana to serve as IU's director of basketball operations/video coordinator. Arcola, Illinois
Arcola is a city in Douglas County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,927 at the 2020 census. The city was founded in 1855, when the Illinois Central Railroad was built through the county. The railroad itself was responsible for surveying, platting and founding the town. History Arcola was the birthplace in 1880 of John Barton Gruelle, or "Johnny" Gruelle, who created Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy, the loveable American dolls and storybook characters.
