2019–20 Manchester United W.F.C. Season
The 2019–20 season was Manchester United Women's second season since they were founded and their first in the FA Women's Super League, the professional top-flight women's league in England. The club also competed in the FA Cup and League Cup. Following the departure of Alex Greenwood in August 2019, Katie Zelem was named as her successor as club captain. On 13 March 2020, in line with the FA's response to the coronavirus pandemic, it was announced the season was temporarily suspended until at least 3 April 2020. After later extending the postponement until 30 April, on 3 April, the FA announced that the WSL and Women's Championship would be suspended indefinitely. The season was ultimately ended prematurely on 25 May 2020 with immediate effect. Alex Greenwood (born 7 September 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays for Manchester City in the FA Women's Super League and the England national team. Mainly a left-back, she can also play as a centre-back and is considered to be a set-piece specialist. She has previously played for Olympique Lyonnais in the French Division 1 Féminine as well as English clubs Manchester United, Liverpool, Notts County and Everton where she began her career. Jane Celestina Ross (born 18 September 1989) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a striker for Rangers in the Scottish Women's Premier League, and the Scotland national team. Club career Glasgow City Ross grew up on the Isle of Bute and after attending local coaching clinics, began her career at youth level with Paisley Saints Ladies. Sandefjord Fotball, commonly known simply as Sandefjord, is a Norwegian professional football club, founded on 10 September 1998. The club currently competes in Eliteserien, the top tier of the Norwegian football league system. Their home ground is the Release Arena, located in Sandefjord, Vestfold. Jessica Lucy Sigsworth (born 13 October 1994) is an English footballer who plays as a striker for Leicester City in the FA Women's Super League.
