2019–20 KBL Season
The 2019-20 KBL season was the 24th season of the Korean Basketball League (KBL), the highest level of basketball in South Korea. Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus was the defending champion. On 24 March 2020, the KBL decided to cancel the remainder of the season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially some games in February were played behind closed doors but, as with other domestic sports leagues, government restrictions forced the KBL to forfeit the rest of the season. Hence there was no Play-offs MVP awarded this season. The KBL, as it announced the cancellation of the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs, said no champions would be crowned this season. The Seoul SK Knights and the Wonju DB Promy went into the record books as the co-first-placed teams in the regular season. Korean Basketball League
The Korean Basketball League (KBL; ) is a professional men's basketball league in South Korea which was established in 1997. The league consists of ten teams and each team plays a total of 54 games (27 home and 27 away) in the regular season. History The Korean Basketball League was established in 1997. Prior to the professional era, domestic basketball was an amateur sport and all teams, whether sponsored by a corporate company or a university, participated in the National Basketball Festival (Korean: 농구대잔치), a competition sanctioned by the Korea Basketball Association. Changwon LG Sakers
Changwon LG Sakers are a basketball team located in the city of Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. They play in the Korean Basketball League, and their home arena is Changwon Gymnasium which has a capacity for approximately 6,000 people. The team's main sponsor is LG Electronics which has its offices in Changwon. The professional team was established in 1997 and was named Gyeongnam LG Sakers. The name was changed to the Changwon LG Sakers after the first season. LG Sakers has yet to win a KBL championship. The closest they came was in the 2000–01 season, when they finished as runners-up, losing to Suwon Samsung Thunders in the finals. Seoul Samsung Thunders ( ko, 서울 삼성 썬더스) is a professional basketball team, competing in the Korean Basketball League. Ever since the club was founded in 1978, they have been associated with Samsung Electronics. Jeonju Gymnasium
Jeonju Gymnasium is an arena in Jeonju, South Korea. It is the home arena of the Jeonju KCC Egis of the Korean Basketball League (KBL). History The construction of Jeonju Gymnasium began on 10 November 1969, and lasted for three years and four months, with total costs amounting to ₩246,497,000. Its opening ceremony was held on 30 March 1973, and included a basketball match between long-time rivals Korea University and Yonsei University, both based in Seoul, in which Yonsei lost with a score of 58–66. Significant remodelling and modernisation work was carried out prior to the 2011–12 KBL season, at cost of roughly ₩400 million. Jeonju
Jeonju () is the 16th largest city in South Korea and the capital of North Jeolla Province. Samsan World Gymnasium
Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium is an indoor arena in Incheon, South Korea. It has hosted numerous international tournaments such as the 2014 Incheon World Wheelchair Basketball Championship, 2014 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship and the Basketball at the 2014 Asian Games, basketball events at the 2014 Asian Games. The complex includes a convention center adjacent to the indoor arena. Goyang (''Goyang-si''; ) is a city in Gyeonggi Province in the north of South Korea. It is part of the Seoul Capital Area, making Goyang one of Seoul's satellite cities.
