2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
The 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on 11 April 2019 for constituting the fifteenth Legislative Assembly in the state. They were held alongside the 2019 Indian general election. The YSR Congress Party won the election in a landslide, winning 151 of the 175 seats, with the incumbent Telugu Desam Party winning just 23. The Jana Sena Party entered the legislature with one seat, while the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party failed to win any seats. YSRCP's 151-seat win (or 86%) is the largest majority government (in % terms) in the history of Andhra Pradesh, even surpassing TDP's 226-seat victory (or 77%) and equal if number of seats contested is only considered (216 out of 251) in the Undivided 1994 election Y. The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly or Andhra Pradesh Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. The Legislative Assembly consists of 175 members which are elected by adult universal suffrage under the first-past-the-post system. The duration of the Assembly is five years from the date appointed for its first meeting, unless it is decided to dissolve the Assembly sooner. The United Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election of 1994 took place in December 1994 in 294 constituencies in United Andhra Pradesh, India. The elections were conducted to elect the government in the state of Andhra Pradesh for the next five years. The TDP secured a huge majority winning 226 seats. National Democratic Alliance (NDA) () is a centre-right to right-wing and conservative Indian big tent political alliance led by the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Nara Lokesh
Nara Lokesh (born 23 January 1983) is an Indian politician. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Bhuvaneshwari, and grandson of N. T. Rama Rao. Lokesh became cabinet minister for information technology, Panchayati Raj and rural development in Andhra Pradesh state in 2017. Lokesh joined the TDP in May 2013, and worked on the election strategy for the 2014 General Elections.
