2018–19 California Golden Bears Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 California Golden Bears men's basketball team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was Wyking Jones' second year as head coach at California. The Golden Bears played their home games at Haas Pavilion as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 8–23, 3–15 in Pac-12 play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Colorado. On March 24, head coach Wyking Jones was fired. He finished with a 2-year record of 16–47 overall and 5–31 in the Pac-12. Former Georgia and Nevada head coach Mark Fox was hired to replace him on March 29. Wyking Jones
Wyking L. Jones (born January 8, 1973) is an American basketball coach, former college and professional player, basketball broadcasting analyst, and actor who was most recently the head coach of the California Golden Bears men's basketball program, and is now an assistant on the men’s team at the University of Washington. Biography Early life A native of Inglewood, California, Jones attended St. Bernard High School where he played basketball and was recruited by the likes of Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara, but ultimately decided to attend Loyola Marymount, where he was a ball boy in elementary school. Collegiate career Jones attended Loyola Marymount from 1991-95 under head coach John Olive. The 2018 Pac-12 Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Pac-12 Conference and was played during March 7–10, 2018, at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. Number 1 seed Arizona defeated Number 2 seed USC in the championship game. Deandre Ayton was the Tournament MVP. Aptos, California
Aptos (Ohlone for "The People") is an unincorporated town in Santa Cruz County, California. The town is made up of several small villages, which together form Aptos: Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley, Aptos Village, Cabrillo, Seacliff, Rio del Mar, and Seascape. Together, they have a combined population of 24,402. History Aptos was traditionally inhabited by the Awaswas tribe of Ohlone people. The name is one of only three native words that have survived (in Hispanicized form) as place names in Santa Cruz County (the others are Soquel and Zayante). The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portolá expedition, passed through the area on its way north, camping at one of the creeks on October 16, 1769. Marcus Lee
Marcus Lee (born September 14, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Pallacanestro Reggiana of the Lega Basket Serie A. He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats and University of California Golden Bears. High school career Lee attended Deer Valley High School in Antioch, California, where he was a starter on the varsity basketball team. As a junior, he averaged 13.9 points, 13.1 rebounds, 9.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. During his senior year he averaged 17.7 points, 19.5 rebounds, and 6.7 blocks per game. South Alabama Jaguars Men's Basketball
The South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball program has competed in the Sun Belt Conference since 1978 when the league was formed. Since 1968, the Jaguars have compiled an overall record of 694–507 (.580). Ronnie Arrow returned as head coach in 2007, succeeding John Pelphrey after the 2006–07 season. In his three seasons succeeding Pelphrey, Coach Arrow was 63–34 (64.9%), and is 177–127 (58.2%) all time at South Alabama. He retired December 19, 2012 and was replaced by Jeff Price on an interim basis. On March 25, 2013, Matthew Graves was named as the new head coach of the Jaguars.
