2018–19 Asian Le Mans Series
The 2018–19 Asian Le Mans Series was the seventh season of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's Asian Le Mans Series. It is the fourth 24 Hours of Le Mans-based series created by the ACO, following the American Le Mans Series (since merged with the Rolex Sports Car Series to form the United SportsCar Championship), the European Le Mans Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship. The four-event season began at the Shanghai International Circuit on 25 November 2018 and ended at the Sepang International Circuit in Selangor on 24 February 2019. Calendar The calendar for the 2018–2019 season was announced on 3 February 2018, featuring four FIA Grade 1 circuits. The series returned to the Shanghai International Circuit for the first time since the 2014 season, with the venue replacing the Zhuhai International Circuit as the opening round of the season. Automobile Club De L'Ouest
The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (English: Automobile Club of the West), sometimes abbreviated to ACO, is the largest automotive group in France. It was founded in 1906 by car building and racing enthusiasts, and is most famous for being the organising entity behind the annual Le Mans 24 Hours race. Weiron Tan (born 3 December 1994) is a Malaysian racing driver. Career Karting Weiron was first introduced to go-karts at the age of 13, and by the age of 15 he was the first Malaysian champion in the PLUS Yamaha SL Cup Championship and the same year saw him emerge as vice champion in the Asian Karting Open Championship. In 2011, Weiron made his racing debut in Europe, competing in the WSK Series under the Works Kosmic Racing Kart Team. Weiron was also the only Malaysian among 6 other young international drivers chosen in the AirAsia Team Lotus Driver Development Program in 2011, later known as Caterham F1 Academy. Muhammad Nabil Jan Al bin Jeffri (born 24 October 1993, in Kuala Lumpur) is a Malaysian racing driver. Career Jeffri began his career in karting winning the Asian and Malaysian Rotax Max Junior titles in 2009. He stepped up to Formula BMW Pacific in 2010, racing for Eurasia Motorsport. On 1 September 2010, Jeffri carried out an aerodynamic test for the Lotus Racing Formula One team, driving the Lotus T127 on the airfield at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, becoming the youngest ever test driver in Formula One history. He drove for the team as a member of the AirAsia ASEAN Driver Development Program run by Lotus principal Tony Fernandes. Jazeman Firhan bin Jaafar (born 13 November 1992) is a Malaysian racing driver. Career Karting Jazeman started his career at a tender age of 6 in Shah Alam, Malaysia. A hobby which turned to a full time career, Jazeman has won a total Eleven Karting Championships in Malaysia, Asia and also won the Belgian Open Kart Championship Race in Mariembourg. The Oreca 05 is a Le Mans Prototype built by Oreca in 2015. The car was designed to compete in the LMP2 class. The car's first win came at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans by Hong Kong-based team KCMG. A closed-top design, it incorporates several new mechanical and safety features not used in the Oreca 03 car. Zylon anti-intrusion panels are built into the frame that prevent any mechanical components from coming into the chassis in the event of an accident. The car is smaller than the normal LMP2 class; the 05's frame is 1900mm wide while most other cars have a 2000mm frame. The 05 has an electrical power steering system and an improved gearbox.
