2018 Moscow Mayoral Election
The 2018 Moscow mayoral election was held on 9 September 2018, on common election day. To be elected, a candidate had to get more than 50% of votes. If no one achieved 50%, a runoff would have been held 14 days later, with only the two most successful candidates from the first round participating in the second round. Sergey Sobyanin, the incumbent Mayor of Moscow, was re-elected for a new term. Sergey Semyonovich Sobyanin (russian: link=no, Сергей Семёнович Собянин; born 21 June 1958) is a Russian politician, serving as the 3rd Mayor of Moscow since 21 October 2010. Sobyanin previously served as the Governor of Tyumen Oblast (2001–2005), Head of the presidential administration (2005–2008) and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia (2008–2010 in Vladimir Putin's Second Cabinet). Sobyanin is a member of the ruling United Russia political party, and is elected to its higher governing bodies, current member of presidium of Regional Council of the United Russia in Moscow and the head (political council secretary) of the party's Moscow branch from March 2011 to December 2012. Tagansky District (russian: Тага́нский райо́н) is a district of Central Administrative Okrug of the federal city of Moscow, Russia, located between the Moskva and Yauza Rivers near the mouth of the latter. Population: The district takes its name from the former ''Taganskaya'' '' sloboda'', where the copper-smiths lived in the 16th century. ''Tagan'' is the old Russian word for their product, a trivet to set a pot on (known in English as "brand-iron"). The modern center of the Taganka district is the Taganskaya Square, where the Taganka Theatre is located. Anton Vyacheslavovich Krasovsky (Kuznetsov-Krasovsky) (russian: Антон Вячеславович Красовский (Кузнецов-Красовский); born 18 July 1975) is a Russian television presenter, journalist and activist. The Russian All-People's Union (ROS; russian: Российский общенародный союз; РОС; ''Rossiyskiy obshchenarodnyy soyuz'', ''ROS'') is a Russian conservative political party formed in October 1991.
