2018 London Sevens
The 2018 London Sevens was the penultimate event of the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series and the eighteenth edition of the London Sevens. The tournament was held at Twickenham Stadium, London on 2–3 June 2018. Fiji won the tournament by defeating South Africa 21–17 in the final. However it was Ireland who stole the show, finishing in third place in their first World Series tournament since 2004. Ireland thus became the first invitational side to reach the semi-finals and the podium of a World Rugby Sevens Series event. The 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, was the 19th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. Gavin Lowe (born 1 March 1995 in Carluke) is a Scottish international 7s rugby union player at the Full Back position. Rugby union career Amateur career Lowe first played his rugby for Ayr Rugby but moved on to the Glasgow Hawks. He was confirmed as part of SportScotland's academy system in 2013. Scott Curry (born 17 May 1988) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He plays for the New Zealand national rugby sevens team. He made his debut at the 2010 Dubai Sevens. He made his debut appearance at the Olympics representing New Zealand at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Curry was ruled out of the All Blacks Sevens squad to the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia due to an injury he sustained during training. Tim Mikkelson (born 13 August 1986 in Matamata) is a New Zealand rugby union player. Lautaro (Anglicized as 'Levtaru') ( arn, Lef-Traru " swift hawk") (; 1534? – April 29, 1557) was a young Mapuche toqui known for leading the indigenous resistance against Spanish conquest in Chile and developing the tactics that would continue to be employed by the Mapuche during the long-running Arauco War. Levtaru was captured by Spanish forces in his early youth, and he spent his teenage years as a personal servant of chief conquistador Pedro de Valdivia, but escaped in 1551. Amenoni Nasilasila (born 8 February 1992) is a Fijian rugby union footballer. He had played for the Fiji sevens team. Nasilasila made his debut for at the 2014 Dubai Sevens. Career Nasilasila grew up in Namatakula, the famous town known for creating rugby union and league stars like Noa Nadruku who is his uncle, Lote Tuqiri who is his cousin and Nemani Nadolo. He played rugby league and was part of the Fiji Residents Rugby league side, a feeder for the Fiji Bati. Waisea Nacuqu (born 24 May 1993) is a Fiji national rugby sevens team player. Nacuqu is known as "game breaker" and has on many occasions scored match winning tries. He is well known for his speed and scoring tries. Nacuqu is from Votua village near the township of Ba near the bank of Ba River.
