2018 Hamilton Sevens
The 2018 New Zealand Sevens was the fourth tournament within the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series and the nineteenth edition of the New Zealand Sevens, and the first to be held in Hamilton. It was held over the weekend of 3–4 February 2017 at FMG Stadium Waikato. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each, with each team playing every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup/5th place brackets. The bottom two teams from each group went to the Challenge trophy/13th place brackets. 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, was the 19th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. New Zealand Sevens
The New Zealand national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens, Summer Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. They have won a record twelve World Rugby Sevens Series titles. The team has been officially known as the All Blacks Sevens since 1 June 2012. The team played for the first time at the 1973 International Seven-A-Side Tournament. In 1983 it first entered the Hong Kong Sevens, where it has been champion 10 times and runner-up another 10 times. The All Blacks Sevens are the current Rugby World Cup Sevens. 2018 USA Sevens
The 2018 USA Sevens (also sometimes referred to as the 2018 Las Vegas Sevens) was the fifteenth edition of the USA Sevens tournament, and the sixth tournament of the 2017–18 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament was played between 2 and 4 March 2018 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament was won by the United States who beat Argentina 28–0 in the final. This was the first time that the United States won its home tournament. USA's Perry Baker led the tournament with 8 tries and 11 breaks. Werner Kok
Werner Kok (born 17 January 1993) is a South African rugby union player, currently playing with the South African Sevens team. His regular position is centre or winger. Kok was a member of the South African Sevens team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Rugby career Youth At high school level, Kok represented the Pumas at the Under-16 2009 Grant Khomo Week and also at the Under-18 Craven Week tournament in 2011, where he scored a try in their match against Boland. In 2012, Kok moved to Cape Town, where he represented the side during the 2012 Under-19 Provincial Championship. He made eleven appearances for them in the competition. Jerry Tuwai
Seremaia Tuwai Vunisa (born 23 March 1989), also known as Jerry Tuwai, is a Fiji rugby union player who plays for the Fiji national rugby sevens team. Tuwai made his debut for at the 2014 Gold Coast Sevens. He was part of the Fiji Sevens team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He was named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in 2019. He was awarded player of the tournament at the 2014 World Club 7s where he played for the Davetalevu Club. He was also Player of the Final at the 2015 Dubai Sevens. Tuwai was also the stand out player at the 2015 Las Vegas Sevens final when beat 35-19. Lachlan Anderson (born 27 August 1997) is an Australian professional rugby union footballer who plays wing for Super Rugby franchise the Rebels and the Australia national rugby sevens team. In his early career, he was selected to play in the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championships for Australia and formally played for Shute Shield clubs Randwick and Eastwood. Kalione Nasoko (born 2 December 1990) is the current captain of the Fiji national rugby sevens team to the 2018 Oceania Sevens Championship and the 2018 Dubai Sevens. Scott Curry (born 17 May 1988) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He plays for the New Zealand national rugby sevens team. He made his debut at the 2010 Dubai Sevens. He made his debut appearance at the Olympics representing New Zealand at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Curry was ruled out of the All Blacks Sevens squad to the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia due to an injury he sustained during training. Folau Niua (born January 27, 1985) is an American rugby union former player. He played fly-half for the United States national rugby sevens team from 2011 to 2022, and holds the U.S. record for most tournament appearances with over 65 caps. Early career Folau Niua is from East Palo Alto in California, and attended high school at Woodside High. Niua previously played his club rugby with the East Palo Alto Razorbacks, where he helped the club win the 2009 Division II national championship.
