Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz ( ar, محمد ولد عبد العزيز ''Muḥammad Wald 'Abd al-'Azīz''; born 20 December 1956) is a former Mauritanian politician who was the 8th List of heads of state of Mauritania, President of Mauritania, in office from 2009 to 2019. A career soldier and high-ranking officer, he was a leading figure in 2005 Mauritanian coup d'état, the August 2005 coup that deposed President Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, and in August 2008 he led 2008 Mauritanian coup d'état, another coup, which toppled President Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi. Yahya Ould Hademine
Yahya Ould Hademine ( ar, يحي ولد حدمين; born December 31, 1953) is a Mauritanian engineer and politician who served as Defence Minister of Mauritania. He served as the Prime Minister of Mauritania from August 21, 2014. to October 29, 2018. Biography Hademine was born on December 31, 1953, in Timbédra. He received his primary education in Djigueni. Hademine attended the College of Aïoun between 1967 and 1970, and later studied at the ''Lycée national de Nouakchott'' from 1971 to 1974. After moving to Canada in 1974, he earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the ''École Polytechnique de Montréal'' in 1979. After moving back to Mauritania, he began working for the '' Société nationale industrielle et minière'' (SNIM), which mines for iron in Mauritania, and he became head of a steel mill in 1979. Colonel Ely Ould Mohamed Vall ( ar, إعلي ولد محمد فال ''I‘lī Wald Muḥammad Fāl''; 1953 – 5 May 2017) was a Mauritanian political and military figure. Following a coup d'état in August 2005, he served as the transitional military leader of Mauritania until 19 April 2007, when he relinquished power to an elected government. Life and career Born in Nouakchott in 1953, Vall was a long-time ally of President Maaouya Ould Taya, and participated in the December 1984 coup that brought Ould Taya himself to power.
