2017 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic
The 2017 CS U.S. International Figure Skating Classic were held in September 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was part of the 2017–18 ISU Challenger Series. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. Tina Garabedian
Tina Garabedian ( hy, Թինա Կարապետյան; born June 13, 1997) is a retired Armenian-Canadian ice dancer. She and her partner Simon Proulx-Sénécal represented Armenia at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Personal life Tina Garabedian was born on June 13, 1997, in Laval, Quebec, Canada. She is one of three daughters of Maral Dermeguerditchian and John Garabedian, both born in Lebanon. She attended L'École Arménienne Sourp Hagop up to grade 7 and then switched to Collège Gérald-Godin with a sports-study program to accommodate her skating schedule. In 2021 she graduated from McGill University with distinction, winning the Laddie Millen Award for top marks. She holds dual Canadian and Armenian citizenship. Carolane Soucisse
Carolane Soucisse (born February 10, 1995) is a Canadian ice dancer. With her skating partner, Shane Firus, she is the 2018 Four Continents silver medallist. They have finished third at the 2020 Canadian Championships and represented Canada on the Grand Prix circuit and at the World Championships. She previously competed with Alexandre Laliberté and Benjamin Smyth in the novice and junior ranks and Simon Tanguay in the junior and senior ranks. Maxime Deschamps (born December 20, 1991) is a Canadian pair skater. With his skating partner, Deanna Stellato-Dudek, he is the 2023 Four Continents bronze medalist, 2022 Grand Prix de France champion, 2022 Skate America silver medallist, 2022 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and 2023 Canadian national champion. Sydney Kolodziej
Sydney Kolodziej (born August 18, 1993) is an American pair skater. Representing Canada with Maxime Deschamps, she has competed at the Four Continents Championships, placing 9th in 2018, and on the Grand Prix series, at the 2017 Skate Canada International. Career Early years Kolodziej began learning to skate in 2000. In 2005, she competed in the juvenile girls group at the Upper Great Lakes Regionals in Duluth, Minnesota and placed 1st overall. She furthered at the regionals in the ladies’ category, winning bronze and finished 5th at Midwestern Sectionals in the 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 seasons. Alicia Pineault (; born July 26, 1999) is a Canadian figure skater. She is the 2016 Canadian national junior silver medalist and has represented Canada at two Four Continents Championships, finishing within the top ten in 2020. Michelle Long
Michelle Long (born April 7, 1992) is a Canadian retired figure skater. She represented Canada at the 2018 Four Continents Championships in Taipei, finishing 15th overall. Long began learning to skate in 1997 and started competing around 2008. She trained at the Newmarket Skating Club before moving, at the age of 18, to the Richmond Training Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She achieved her best national result, fifth, at the 2016 Canadian Championships, giving her a spot on the national team. Liam Firus
Liam Firus (born July 2, 1992) is a Canadian retired figure skater. He is the 2016 Triglav Trophy champion and a three-time Canadian national medallist (silver in 2016, bronze in 2014–15). He competed at the 2014 Olympic Games. Earlier in his career, Firus won two bronze medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series. Brooklee Han (born July 6, 1995) is an American-Australian retired figure skater who represented Australia in ladies' singles. She is the 2018 CS Alpen Trophy bronze medalist, the 2013 Volvo Open Cup champion, the 2013 Australian national champion, and a five-time Australian national silver medalist (2012, 2014–2018).
