2017 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team
The 2017 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team represented the University of Notre Dame in the 2017 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Brian Kelly and played its home games at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. They competed as an independent. They finished the season 10–3, an impressive turnaround from the season before, where the Irish finished with their worst record since 2007. They were invited to the Citrus Bowl where they defeated LSU. The Irish would finish the season with four wins over teams that finished in the top 25 rankings (both the AP and Coaches polls), including winning three of those by over 20 points or more. Brian Kelly (American Football Coach)
Brian Keith Kelly (born October 25, 1961) is an American football coach who is currently the head football coach at Louisiana State University (LSU). Kelly previously served as the head football coach at Grand Valley State University (1991–2003), Central Michigan University (2004–2006), the University of Cincinnati (2006–2009), and the University of Notre Dame (2010–2021). He led the Grand Valley State Lakers to consecutive NCAA Division II Football Championships in 2002 and 2003. Kelly's 2012 Notre Dame team reached the 2013 BCS National Championship Game, while his 2018 and 2020 teams made appearances in the College Football Playoff (CFP). 2017 NFL Draft
The 2017 NFL Draft was the 82nd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. It was held in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on April 27–29, returning to Philadelphia for the first time since 1961. The player selections were announced from an outdoor theater built on the Rocky Steps, marking the first time an entire NFL draft was held outdoors. Brian Polian
Brian Stewart Polian (born December 22, 1974) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the special teams coordinator for LSU. He is the former head coach of the Nevada Wolf Pack football team. He is the son of former National Football League (NFL) executive Bill Polian. Michael Fredrick Denbrock (born January 29, 1964) is an American football coach. He is the offensive coordinator at Louisiana State University (LSU). Denbrock has previously been a coach at Notre Dame, Illinois State, Grand Valley State, Stanford, Washington, and Indiana State. He also coached in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Buffalo Destroyers. Asai Alohilaniokala "Alohi" Gilman (born September 17, 1997) is an American football safety for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Notre Dame and Navy. College career Gilman played his freshman year at the United States Naval Academy. Tristen Hoge (born May 23, 1997) in Pocatello, Idaho is a former American football offensive guard who retired as a free agent. He played college football at Brigham Young from 2017 to 2020. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. Isaac Christopher Rochell (born April 22, 1995) is an American football defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL).
