2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup was the 10th and final edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup, a quadrennial international men's football tournament organised by FIFA. It was held in Russia, from 17 June to 2 July 2017, as a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Russia was announced as the host on 2 December 2010 after the country was awarded the hosting rights of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The matches were played in four stadiums in four cities: Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, and Sochi. It was the first time Russia had hosted the tournament, and the third time the Confederations Cup was held in the European continent. As hosts, Russia qualified automatically for the tournament; they were joined by the six winners of the FIFA confederation championships and the 2014 FIFA World Cup champions, Germany. 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup Knockout Stage
The knockout stage of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup began on 28 June with the semi-final round, and concluded on 2 July 2017 with the final at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg. The top two teams from each group advanced to the knockout stage to compete in a single-elimination style tournament. A third place play-off also took place, and was played between the two losing teams of the semi-finals. In the knockout stage, if a match was level at the end of normal playing time, extra time was played (two periods of 15 minutes each), where each team was allowed to make a fourth substitution. Ernest Mabouka (born 16 June 1988) is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Nof HaGalil. Club career Žilina Mabouka made his debut for MŠK Žilina against Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš in the 2nd leg of the 2010–11 Slovakian Cup quarterfinals. Maccabi Haifa Mabouka signed for Maccabi Haifa on 9 July 2017. On 4 November 2019, he scored his first goal for Maccabi Haifa, the winning goal in the 92nd minute in a 2–1 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv. Joseph Fabrice Ondoa Ebogo (born 24 December 1995) is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as goalkeeper for French club Nîmes and the Cameroon national team. Having made his debut in 2014 at the age of 18, he represented Cameroon at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the 2017 edition. Damir Skomina (born 5 August 1976) is a Slovenian former UEFA Elite category football referee. Refereeing career Skomina was the fourth referee at several UEFA Euro 2008 matches. He refereed the quarter-final match of the football tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
