The 2016–17 Copa Catalunya was the 28th staging of the Copa Catalunya. The competition began on 30 July 2016 and was played by teams in Segunda División, Segunda División B, Tercera División and the top teams of Primera Catalana. RCD Espanyol B
Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona "B" is the reserve team of the RCD Espanyol, club based in Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. The team was founded in 1991 and plays in the Segunda Federación, Segunda Federación – Group 3, holding home matches at the 3,000-seat capacity ''Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque''. Unió Esportiva Figueres is a Spanish football team based in Figueres, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. 2015–16 Tercera División
The 2015–16 Tercera División was the fourth tier in Spanish football. It started in August 2015 and ended in late June 2016 with the promotion play-off finals. Competition format *The top four eligible teams in each group will play the promotion playoffs. *The champion of each group will qualify to 2016–17 Copa del Rey. If the champion is a reserve team, the first non-reserve team qualified will join the Copa. *In each group, at least three teams will be relegated to Regional Divisions.
