2016 World RX Of Latvia
The 2016 World RX of Latvia was the tenth round of the third season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the eighth round of the 2016 FIA European Rallycross Championship, forty-first season of the FIA European Rallycross Championship. The event was the first FIA World or European rallycross event to be staged in Latvia, and was held at the Biķernieku Kompleksā Sporta Bāze, former host of the non-championship Latvian Grand Prix. Biķernieki Complex Sports Base
Biķernieki Complex Sports Base is a racing circuit and cross-country skiing course in the Biķernieki Forest in Riga. Adjacent to the racing circuit is the Riga Speedway Stadium. History In 1962, the design of the track was started. Eduardu Kiopi was appointed director of the sports complex, and the project manager was Gunars Binde. A group of specialists were also invited: Peter Dzenis, Janis Roops, Karlis Rība and Vilnis Vasulis. Timo Scheider (born 10 November 1978 in Lahnstein) is a German racing driver who competes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship for Münnich Motorsport. He won the DTM title in 2008 and 2009. Career Karting Like most other drivers, Scheider started his racing career in karting in 1989. In 1992, he went on to win the Kerpen Winter Cup and earned seventh place in the German Junior Kart NRW-Cup a year later. His seventh place disappointment led to success the next year when he won the cup. Formula Renault In 1995, Scheider joined the German Formula Renault 1800 championship and won it in his first year. Andreas Bakkerud (born 10 October 1991) is a rallycross driver from Bergen, Norway. He has competed in the FIA Rallycross Supercar class since 2013 in both Euro RX and World RX, and Nitro Rallycross since 2021. He became European Champion in 2021. Biography Bakkerud won the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Super1600 category twice, in 2011 and 2012. He entered the FIA European Rallycross Supercar class in 2013 with a private Citroën DS3, finishing fourth with two wins.
