2016 Speedway Grand Prix Of Germany
The 2016 German FIM Speedway Grand Prix was the eighth race of the 2016 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on 10 September at the Bergring Arena in Teterow, Germany. It was the 200th Speedway Grand Prix staged. Riders The Speedway Grand Prix Commission nominated Martin Smolinski as the wild card, and Tobias Kroner and Kai Huckenbeck both as Track Reserves. It was also Chris Harris' 100th Grand Prix of his career. Results The Grand Prix was won by Jason Doyle, who beat Bartosz Zmarzlik, Greg Hancock and Niels-Kristian Iversen in the final. As a result, Doyle closed the lead on Hancock in the world championship standings to five points, with defending world champion Tai Woffinden, who was eliminated in the semi-finals, sitting eight points further back in third. Teterow
Teterow () is a town of Germany, in the district of Rostock, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is the geographical center of this federal state. It had a population of 8,852 in 2011. History The ''Stadtkirche St. Peter und Paul'' (St. Peter and St. Paul's Church), was built in 1215 in Late Romanesque and Gothic style. There are two remaining gates of the ancient city wall: the 14th-century ''Malchiner Tor'' (today the seat of the museum of local history), and the ''Rostocker Tor''. Anders Thomsen (speedway Rider)
Anders Thomsen (born 1 January 1994) is an international speedway rider from Denmark and twice Danish champion. Speedway career Thomsen became champion of Denmark, winning the Danish Championship in 2020. He rode in the second tier of British Speedway from 2013–2016, riding for Glasgow Tigers and Peterborough Panthers. In 2020, he won a bronze medal at the 2020 Speedway of Nations and in 2021, he won the Danish title for the second time and was awarded a permanent wildcard for the 2021 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2022, ten days after a serious injury in a Danish speedway meeting, Thomsen claimed his first Grand Prix victory in Gorzow, Poland, beating Martin VaculÃk, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and Patryk Dudek in the final. Krzysztof Kasprzak
Krzysztof Kasprzak (; born 18 July 1984 in Leszno, Poland) is an international speedway rider who became World Under-21 Champion in 2005 and won the silver medal during the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix. He also won five World team titles. He is a son of former Polish national speedway team member Zenon Kasprzak. Brother Robert is also a speedway rider. Career summary Kasprzak became the European Champion in 2003 after winning the 2003 Individual Speedway European Championship. He also made his British speedway debut after joining Poole Pirates. Career Dudek's father, SÅ‚awomir, was a professional rider and Patryk gained his speedway licence in 2008. Andreas Karl Rune Jonsson (born 3 September 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. He was a member of the Sweden speedway team that won the World Cup in 2003, 2004 and 2015. Matej Žagar (born 3 April 1983 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider who was won two Individual Speedway European Champion titles in 2004 and 2008. Jan Fredrik Tobias (Freddie) Lindgren (born 15 September 1985) is a Swedish motorcycle speedway rider. He has twice won the bronze medal at the Speedway World Championship and won the world team championships in 2015. Career Born in Örebro, Sweden. Lindgren's father Tommy was a speedway rider before him, and his younger brother Ludvig also rides. Lindgren first appeared for Wolverhampton Wolves during the 2003 season as the team struggled with injuries. At the age of just 17, Freddie made his debut for the team and impressed enough to be brought back the following season when again injuries hit the club. In 2005, he moved over to full-time and averaged 7.44 for Wolves in his debut full season and in 2006 he improved to average 8.12. Peter Kildemand (born 1 September 1989) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Career He is a member of the Danish national team. He was a member of the Swindon Robins Elite League Championship winning side of 2012 and was named "Rider of the Year" for the club at the end of the season. Kildemand was also part of the Fjelsted team that won the 2017 Danish Speedway League. He was captain of Västervik Speedway team in 2018. In 2022, he signed for King's Lynn Stars but was unable to race for them after sustaining a pre season injury. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who competed in the Speedway World Championship, finishing eighth in 2016, and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. Career highlights Lindbäck made his international debut in 2004 with firstly a wild card ride in the Speedway Grand Prix series but he made a bigger impression in the Speedway World Cup riding for the Swedish team.
