2016 Philippine Super Liga Season
The 2016 PSL season was the fourth season of the Philippine Super Liga (PSL). There were three indoor conferences and one beach volleyball tournament for the season. The PSL was also chosen to organize two international volleyball tournaments for the year - the 2016 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship and the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship - both of which were staged in the Philippines. Background The calendar of events for the 2016 season was finalized during the planning session between the league officials and team owners on November 11, 2015. Starting this season, teams will offer annual exclusive contracts, instead of per-conference agreements with their players. The annual contracts will require players to play exclusively for their PSL clubs. On September 16 to 25, selected PSL players will conduct exhibition games in the United States. Victonara Galang
Victonara "Ara" Salas Galang (born January 4, 1995) is a multi-awarded, Filipina volleyball player. She was UAAP Rookie of the Year and Best Server during the Season 74 and UAAP Most Valuable Player in the Season 75. She is the former team captain (2014-2015) of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers. Career Galang was discovered by DLSU Lady Spikers head coach, Ramil de Jesus during one of her games at the Shakey's V-League girls division in 2009. She was a junior high school at Angeles University Foundation at that time. She played with AUF Great Danes from 2007 to 2011, being awarded Best Attacker in 2011 in the Shakey's Girls Volleyball League. The Generika Ayala Lifesavers are a professional women's volleyball team owned by Actimed, Inc. (Generika Drugstore) in partnership with Ayala Corporation. History Generika Drugstore first became involved in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) when it sponsored the Philippine Army Lady Troopers during the 2014 All-Filipino Conference, playing as the "Generika-Army Lady Troopers". For the following conference, the company formed its own team composed of the coaching staff and most of the players from the disbanded AirAsia Flying Spikers. Mika Aereen Marcaliñas Reyes (born June 21, 1994) is a Filipino volleyball player. She is a Middle Hitter/Blocker and is currently playing in the PVL Premier Volleyball League in the Philippines.
