The 2016 New York Cosmos season was the new Cosmos' fourth season of existence, playing in the new North American Soccer League. Including the previous franchise, this is the eighteenth season of a club entitled New York Cosmos playing professional soccer in the New York metropolitan area. Club Roster . The New York Cosmos is an American professional association football, soccer club based in Uniondale, New York, that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). The club has previously competed in the North American Soccer League (2011–2017), North American Soccer League (NASL). With the NASL, the team won the Soccer Bowl, Soccer Bowl Trophy in Soccer Bowl 2013, 2013, Soccer Bowl 2015, 2015, and Soccer Bowl 2016, 2016. Sebastián Ignacio Guenzatti Varela (born July 8, 1991) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship. Youth career Guenzatti was born in Uruguay before moving to the United States at 12, where he grew up in the College Point section of Queens in New York City, and graduated from Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows, where he started for the soccer team all four years. Professional aspirations took Guenzatti back to his homeland, where he played with Peñarol's under-19 team, before moving to Huracán in 2013. Luckymore "Lucky" Mkosana (born 30 September 1987) is a Zimbabwean footballer who currently plays for Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL Championship. Playing career College and Amateur Mkosana played college soccer at Dartmouth College between 2008 and 2011. During his time at Dartmouth, Mkosana was named Ivy League Player of the Year (2011), All-Ivy League First Team (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), Soccer America Freshman, All-America First Team, College Soccer News Freshman, All-America First Team and Ivy League Rookie of the Year (2008). Ayoze García Pérez (born 22 November 1985), known simply as Ayoze, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left-back, currently assistant coach for USL Championship club Indy Eleven. He spent most of his 20-year senior career with Tenerife and the New York Cosmos, signing with the latter club in 2013. He retired following a spell in the USL Championship with Indy Eleven. The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds were the athletic teams representing Long Island University's campus in Brooklyn, New York in intercollegiate athletics, including men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and track; women's-only bowling, lacrosse, softball, tennis, and volleyball; and men's-only baseball.
