The 2016 Campeonato Catarinense is the 93rd season of Santa Catarina (state), Santa Catarina's top professional Sports league, football league. The competition began in January and will end in May. Format ;First stage * All ten teams play a round-robin playing once against each other team. * The best team in this stage qualifies to the Final Stage. ;Second stage * All ten teams play a round-robin playing once against each other team. * The best team in this stage qualifies to the Final Stage. ;Semifinal stage * The two teams that won the first and the second stage are joined by the two best teams in the overall standings. * Home-and-away playoffs between the teams. ;Finals: * Home-and-away playoffs between the winners of the first and second stages. * The winner of the Finals is crowned champion. ;Relegation: * The two worst teams in the overall standings are relegated to the second division of Campeonato Catarinense. The Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol, known as Campeonato Catarinense or simply Catarinense, is the main competition of association football from state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. History The Campeonato Catarinense top level has had several different names since it started. From its first edition, in 1924, to 1985, it was called just Campeonato Catarinense (Santa Catarina Championship). From 1986 to 2003, it was named Campeonato Catarinense Primeira Divisão (Santa Catarina Championship Premier Division). Avaí Futebol Clube () is a Brazilian football team from Florianópolis in Santa Catarina, founded on 1 September 1923. Lages
Lages is a Brazilian municipality located in the central part of the state of Santa Catarina, in the region known in Portuguese as "Planalto Serrano". Palhoça
Palhoça is a municipality in Santa Catarina, Brazil. History Palhoça was founded in 1793, when the city was part of the way between Lages and Florianópolis in order to protect the capital state from possible invasions.
