2016 CS Autumn Classic International
The 2016 CS Autumn Classic International was a figure skating competition held from September 28 – October 1, 2016 at the Sportsplexe Pierrefonds in Montreal, Quebec. It was part of the 2016–17 ISU Challenger Series. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The host city was announced in April 2016. ISU Challenger Series
The ISU Challenger Series is a series of international figure skating competitions. Established by the International Skating Union in the 2014–15 season, it is a group of senior-level events ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Each event consists of at least three disciplines out of four ( men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), and is required to take place between August 1 and December 15. The ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating is a separate competition series in the discipline of synchronized skating. History The ISU Council decided to create the series at its February 2014 meeting. Eleven competitions were selected in June 2014. The Triglav Trophy dropped out by October 10, 2014, resulting in a series composed of ten events. 2016–17 ISU Challenger Series
The 2016–17 ISU Challenger Series was held from September to December 2016. It was the third season of a group of senior-level international figure skating competitions ranked below the Grand Prix series. Regulations Skaters may enter a maximum of three competitions. After the starting orders are drawn for the short segment, skaters are considered as entered even if they withdraw. With the exception of the host, member nations are limited to three entries per discipline at each event. The International Skating Union requires each Challenger Series competition to include a minimum of three disciplines (from men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing), at least ten countries represented in all disciplines combined, and a minimum number of entries and countries in each discipline. Alaine Chartrand
Alaine Chartrand (; born March 26, 1996) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2014 Rostelecom Cup bronze medallist, the 2016 CS Autumn Classic silver medallist, and a two-time Canadian national champion (2016, 2019). Personal life Alaine Chartrand was born on March 26, 1996 in Brockville, Ontario. She is the daughter of Heather and John Chartrand, and has a brother, Andrew. She attended Thousand Islands Secondary School, graduating in 2014. In 2018, Chartrand began studying as a kinesiology student at York University in Toronto. The following year she transferred to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Career Early years Chartrand began learning to skate in 1999. Larkyn Austman
Larkyn Austman (born February 22, 1998) is a former competitive Canadian figure skater. She is the 2017 International Challenge Cup bronze medalist and the 2018 Canadian national bronze medalist. On the junior level, she is the 2013 Canadian junior national champion and the 2012 Canadian junior national silver medalist. She placed 25th at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Keegan Messing
Keegan Messing (born January 23, 1992) is a Canadian-American figure skater. Representing Canada, he has competed at two Winter Olympic Games in 2018 and 2022. He has also appeared at three World Championships, placing as high as 6th. He is the 2021 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb champion, a two-time Nebelhorn Trophy champion (2018 and 2022), and won a silver medal in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating at the 2018 Skate Canada International.
